Edit: can't edit title and auto corrected to wrong there -- ;(
Just curious on if there was a listing or chart anywhere for the usefulness of the romulan ships. I've got 2 level 50 romulans that have no ships(outside of events/other free), and no real equipment and was looking at what I wanted to work towards getting for the both of them.
I remember a while ago someone broke down all the fed ships(god tier, good tier, etc), but I also know that there's a lot more 'variety' in starfleet ships due to the sheer number. Is it more cut and paste on the romulan side?
While I fully understand that there's room for argument, I think most people can agree on general utility theres the 'go to' ships for every specialization, and that's what I'm kinda looking for here.
TL;DR how would you rate the current t5/t5u/t6 ships? What would you buy, knowing what you know now?
The first reply is partially correct - it simply isn't possible to rank ships arbitrarily.*
Ships 'value' come from the:
1.) number of boff slots and available abilities. Higher number nand higher rank = value.
2.) the ship itself; innate abilities, hull points, shield mods etc.
and since the player base favours dps above all else;
3.) number of forward facing weapon mounts, and the number of tac consoles.
Each player class has unique builds at their disposal, some foncusing on their base class (pure science builds) while others offer a mix of each specialization.
Lastly, the biggest factor in any ship is YOU the pilot. The best ships wit the most leet gear are useless in the hands of an idiot.
* for a time yes - some ships are said to be 'the best'. The Bug, Scimidar, etc. This only holds until the next new shiney.
It's entirely subjective based on what you're trying to do/your playstyle.
Are you looking for an attack ship? a general purpose ship? 'tanky-dps'? a science platform? etc. No single ship is better at everything, but some are better at some things than others.
Having now played with the INtel ships, their powers are of value, and even more so when you cross-train an Intel boff.
Liking them alot...
You CAN play DR content with T5 and T5-U ships with mark XII gear. Just alter your boffs for more debuff abilities - they are crucial. Intel powers give you a 'get outa debuff hell' card as well as some new offensive abilities.
I've leveled the Phantom Intel Escort and the Fleet Patrol Escort Refit so far. Both work fine, but the intelligence ship is better overall. Of the two only the T6 ship actually gives me a ship mastery skill I can carry elsewhere.
Working my way through the ships to get all of the mastery skills.
I don't really know in comparison to other options.. but before DR I felt almost invincible in my Scimitar.
Since upgrading it to T5-U, I pretty much am invincible now. The ship is incredibly powerful especially if you have the Console from the T4 Valdore. It's not even the amount of damage it can do, it's the ability to tank as good as any other ship in the game.
Honestly, the T5-U Scimitar Dreadnaught Warbird has no real weakness. Is it the only Viable ship? No.. but if ranking the most useful it's right up there at the top. Not just for Romulan ships, but for all ships in the game.
If you don't already have one though, the $25 Price Tag added to the $7 upgrade makes it more expensive then a T6 Ship. If you want the Shield Absorbing console from the Valdore, that adds another $10 making the Scimitar 'super build' cost $42. It's a great ship, but it will cost you. The Valdore console can be used on any Warbird, so it's also viable to add to T6 ships.

Intel powers seem more suited to pvp or super big boss fights.
