Speculation: server/network load?

Just throwing this out there, as some of the evidence appears to point to this as a possible cause to some of the post DR issues. Examples:

  • When starting a new R&D research task, on initial selection of the school, the list of available tasks doesn't populate completely if no school previously selected, or doesn't repopulate at all if a different school was already selected (leaving the prior school's task list with the heading shown as the selected school).
  • When using auto-travel via map to fly through sector space from Sol system to border of Beta Ursae sector block, ship travels normally until it reaches the Orion sector border just below Delta Volanis, and then... simply stops advancing. Impulse engine display still shows full, other activities still possible, UI still responsive, but can't cross the border into the Orion sector... and then crashes. On reload, still in same position; attempting to continue travel across Orion sector border toward Beta Ursae block causes immediate crash.
  • Frequency of arbitrary random crashes appears to vary with time of day. Started this morning ~7:30a EDT and was on for almost an hour before first crash; since then, haven't been on more than 5-10 minutes between crashes.
  • While not a specific example, arbitrary random crashes with no specific error being reported would appear to be a server/network load issue as, if the load is sufficiently high to cause a disconnection, it may also be sufficiently high to not be able to report the cause.

Additionally but not necessarily related to load, with Mac client, some crashes are followed by 3x instances of the game client (or crash reporter; icon/app name same as game client anyway)... and "wineserver" process still running in the background (doesn't terminate on its own; has to be killed via command line in Terminal window).

hostname:~ username$ ps -ef | fgrep -i wine
502 1636 1 0 8:41AM ?? 0:37.88 wineserver -{string}
502 1704 1696 0 8:52AM ttys000 0:00.00 fgrep -i wine
hostname:~ username$ kill 1636

Anyone else experiencing issues that might point to load as the "root cause"?
