Got it today and I like it, the console it comes with is nice, very enjoyable watching enemies open up on eachother.
Handles great and it can take an okay beating.
Only things that disappoints me are,
Weapons: Only six? Really? I was hoping to have atleast 7 (4 fore and 3 aft)
No unique interior.
I really liked the spartan look of the Dauntless interior that we saw on Voyager. I know "Interiors don't make money as they don't have any real purpose."
I can only speak for myself when I say, the more interesting the interior of a ship, the more time I spend there.
I once spent three hours (Barring Queued events and reloading into the interior) just chilling inside my Defiant with the Belfast interior.
ultimately it's the lack of weapons, the lack of a unique interior is jsut a nagging dislike for me.

I still like the ship overall.
I might be mistake but its a Science Ship right? 3 fore and 3 aft is the typical weapon layout for Science Ships. The 4 fore and 3 aft is generally a Escort layout.
While I can accept a lack of weapons (and obviously BoFF/console layout) is part of being a Sci ship, is there a way to make this ship viable in what seems to be a pure DPS slugfest game environment? Can debuffs or exotic damage offset these things? Id' love to use this ship as I love the sci ship playstyle, but it seems DPS will always be tac ship's domain and the new STFs seemed very reliant on DPS, or am I missing something?

Yes. Particle manipulator (lvl 15 science crafting trait) and lots of part gens...
Then your sci boff powers will make up for missing weapons, and then some.

I also got myself a Dauntless just recently and I can only say that it's just too fun to fly. It really is enjoyable, handles nicely, turns on a dime can take a hell of a beating....I'm really startng to love this ship.
I don't agree that it needs more weapon slots, it's a pure science ship so 3/3 is the norm. Besides, it's one of few science ships that have so strong tactical potential - 5 Boff powers/3 consoles. Dealing damage should not be a problem considering that and especially when you add the SA, secondary deflector and 5 science consoles.
I do agree with your comments on the interior though. I'd love to have at least the Dauntless bridge from ST:Voyager, even if they make it so we must buy it additionally from the C-Store. I'm also a fan of how it looked and the colour scheme it had. Then my ship will be complete.
We'll need to be nagging the devs. for that.

Yes, like the previous player mentioned. With 5 science consoles, the ship has immense potential. One thing people should not forget it to treat the science slots on a science ship the same way they treat the tactical slots on escorts. Science slots are not to be used to throw around universals and random consoles on a science vessel, they're essential and the lifeblood of the ship.
The other day there was a player sharing parses and he was doing 25-30k DPS in his new Dauntless, therefore I think this ship will have no issue in a pure DPS slugfest environment, as long as it's built right.
Plus, a bigger variety of secondary deflectors will probably be comming in the near future and I jsut can't wait to see what I'll be able to do with those!
I have mine on a new char so I can't really say much yet since he has a long way to go in terms of gear and reps, but I will slowly be building and updating about the preformance in the follwoing period.
