What the hell happend with it?
Played it 3 times in a row now resulting in me abandening the event because our team was not able to get the Christalinne down.
Imho they made it to hard to get it down!
Tholian ships surrounding the christalline are way to strong
The only issue stems from people being so used to the Faceroll Easy mode that things were before. People were so used to shooting at ships for 3 seconds and watching them blow up.
If people haven't figured it out yet, take the Training Wheels off and realize that things are different.
Habits you got away with before in CE will get you KILLED. Quick. Or things that people ignored to do before DR are finally biting them in the TRIBBLE like a Honey Badger on a piece of meat.
Parking at 5km or less to pound away on the Entity will get you killed the quickest. If you haven't figured it out yet, the crystal shard spawns are higher. You could get away with this before DR, but now it's quite risky.
Parking and shooting at any other ranges? Zero bonus defense. But hey, it's a hassle to actually... you know... move around and have a higher defense? Nah. Too much of a hassle.
Also something that has existed for forever in STO is the usual lack of cross healing. If you guys haven't figured it out yet, the Entity kind of hits hard. Not to mention the Tholian ships and shards flying around. Of all the ships out there on your instance, people ignore ships under duress and do not provide healing support. For ****'s sake, you could be sitting next to a super ENG heavy ship like a Galaxy-class and not get any healing support from the TRIBBLE.
I've also noticed a considerable drop in the presence of science captains and science BOFF abilities.
- To help reign in and control the heavy crystal and Tholian spawns, you actually need some CC. Grav Well, anyone? Players used to be very good about lots of GW in CE. But since DR, not anymore.
- Science Captains to SNB the Entity and strip those damage buffs it acquires. But there's a bunch of Sci Captains that don't even know about SNB much less what it's useful for. D'oh!!!!
- There are Science abilities that deal in Kinetic Damage, and the Entity and its shards have no shields...
In short: You still need to pound away as usual. But now more than ever, cross team support and crowd control are paramount in Crystalline Entity.
Do that, or just keep complaining on the boards why your old tricks from years ago aren't working anymore.
well they are fixing it but its clear that people dont understand the thing I got told not to use gravity well. I said okay and stopped and everyone died and left (made me chuckle but i dont feel like arguing with people) ..sometimes learning the hard way works.
anyhow thankfully crpytic has heard us and are lowering the hp values. It would be a good time to get info on the secret to some of these instances for instance what happens if a crystal shard kills you etc and why its a really bad idea to let one kill you (especially right now)

It wasnt faceroll easy. The only people saying this are the min/maxers that went out of their way to build UberDPS Boats. Hitting ridiculously high levels of DPS that everything felt like it was a faceroll. For everyone else that at best can pull something like 5k DPS out of their ships (best case scenario when youre dealing with PUGs....Most are typically 2k Boats or less) . It was a decent fight. Granted its Cryptics fault for giving players the capacity to build 15-25k Boats. But no one forced you to build the darn things in the first place. And now that you, the minority, have stepped over that line the rest of us, the majority, have to suffer because of your choices.
The majority. And I do mean the majority of the players in this game. 2k -5k is the norm when it comes to DPS output. And before any trollololol min/maxers say something like madcuzbad or L2P...The mobs prior to DR actually reflected the 2k-5k expectations of players.
CC is now back to the way it was a few years ago. A snore/slugfest that will only chase the average players away from the queues. So congratulations Min/Maxers. You got what you wanted at the expense of the rest of us.

Pretty good advice, but I'm pretty sure SNB does not clear the CE's shard buff. Tachyon beam, delta flyers, energy siphon, charged particle burst, and tyken's rift does clear it. Delta flyers are the best in my opinion, even the cheap rare ones work great.
Well i just started playing STO actively after about 2 years of inactivity and i liked the CE event a lot.
What other people replied as well, the Tholian ships are way to strong man. The three games i played i saw all player in the event going for a tholian ship all at ones and we still needed to much time to get it down.
The CE itself we can drop its HP to about 60% and then it is stuck and not going down any further.
This was not the case before the DR update.
I have read a couple of posts about people adding high DPS in their ships but i am not one of them i guess. I rock the assimilated package and all beams and torpedo's are fleet ultra rare.
I hame myu own fleet on Tier 3 and did it with 1 buddy of mine. I am all alone now and on myself try to get it to Tier 5 but that will take a very long time.
So yeah.... for players like me who do not have ultra high DPS ships.... the event sucks at the moment!
