I'm just now starting to look over the upgrade and new tier ships; and I'm curious. What's everyone's feelings for all of them. Which one thrilled you the most? Did a new T6 entice you to jump from your previous, did you upgrade instead?
How do you think this changes the 'tier chart'(in terms of usefulness). Looking at the T6; for science at least; it looks like I'm going to be just upgrading my vesta(have so much invested in it). Having a hard time choosing for my less played classes though; such as my fed eng/tact.
I too play Science. None of the new Tier 6 ships particularly interest me - as Science ships, they're not very good, too oriented to doing DPS through weapons instead of Science abilities.
I've kept my Palisade, none of the Tier 6s can beat it's Universal Lt Commander slot combined with it's Engineering Lt Commander slot. I love the new passive starship powers, more exotic damage and more tankiness, can't complain about that. The extra tactical slot is useful for another universal power
The Wells is my second choice. Vesta would be my third. After that, then I might (might) consider using the Dauntless...
on the fed side I upgraded the Vesta and tac Odyssey because they're really versatile and I can carry a few different characters with it. I've been using the Vesta the most. Reflecting back 2x the torpedo damage (around 20k per hit and about 80k-100k vs the tac cube assuming I have agro) in STFs is really great and I've been carrying a lot of STF groups with CC and heals (get a repair platform, just saying).
on the kdf side I upgraded my b'rel. It's amazing now and really tanky for a raider.
on the rom side I'm still debating which ship I should upgrade. I need something to carry 3 characters with and I cant decide between the t'varo, dsd, or the scimitar.
With that said. I'm saving up zen for the DR pack. It's the cheapest way to go. It's going to take me a little while but I think I can do it.
The T6 ships I'm most excited about are both of the KDF ships and the eclipse and guardian for the feds. The rom ships looks neat too but I haven't really looked at them yet.
I got the pack. The eclipse has a better turn rate then my avenger and the intel abilities make it fun to fly. But my Phantom has made it interesting. fully geared and at level 5 this is a beast with a turnrate better then my patrol escort. Plus in my opinion the lance is better then the gal x.
I jumped from my previous T5 to a T6. I've used a fleet Chimera for some time now on my tac but the Phantom class took my fancy. I'm not a fan of the Intel hull pattern but if you stick the type 2 or 6 onto it, the Phantom looks not unlike a beefed up Defiant. It's a real beast of a ship too, though a touch fragile when you first start out.
My engineer dumped the Odyssey for the Guardian, it has a nice look and seems to be fairly nippy for its size, but I like the Odyssey and would probably go back to it if a T6 version ever appeared down the line.
Science wise I used the Vesta and I have a Wells too, but I'm hating the look of the Scryer and the Dauntless, while lovely looking, isn't the best suited for my Sci build which goes for CC/exotic damage rather than raw tactical DPS. I've not decided what to do with that character yet.
By and large, I've not seen as many of the new ships in use as I thought we would. Mostly Guardians and a few intel ships but I haven't seen a single player using the Dauntless yet.
It was an easy choice for me to upgrade my Tac Vesta (with all three 'toys' from the 3-pack).
I've invested time in getting it set up the way I like and had already started work on upgrading the weapons and consoles, which will obviously be a very long-term process to get them to Mark XIV, and have started work on the Delta reputation from which I plan to eventually get (and even more eventually upgrade) the shields/impulse engines/deflector/warp core.
I had brief phases of being tempted by the Guardian and the Dauntless, but thus far I'm perfectly happy with my choice and haven't experienced any problems doing stuff in it (although I'm only at Lvl52, so that may well change as time goes on), so I am happy to see it as a long-term project rather than shopping for a quicker/easier route to higher level stuff.
None of the ships really got me excited. There are some nice ships, but there's also some that I don't really care about. The Qib seems like nice battle cruiser for my KDF engineer, but I don't think there is anything exceptional about it and I would need to give up the Lt Cmdr Boff station on my Mirror Negh'var. The Mat'ha is a nice raptor, but I want a T6 BoP for my KDF tactical toon. It makes for a good secondary ship, but I am not interested in purchasing a secondary ship at this time.
As for the Romulan ships... not really interested in them because my Romulan is on the science track and none of the ships are science ships. The Faeht Intel Warbird does have a Lt. Cmdr science Boff station, but I want a science ship for my science toon. Additionally, the -40 power penalty in favor of singularity abilities annoys me since I cannot seem to develop tactics to minimize that penalty and leverage the gimmicky singularity abilities to my liking. I need to decide on the ultimate fate of my Rom toon next year.
There are more diversity among the Fed ships since there are more of them to begin with. the Guardian is nice and it would be the logical step up from my T5 Sovereign class cruiser, but I just wish it had a better turn rate. But it is still a good ship overall. The Dauntless seems to be a good ship for science toon since it offers good tactical and science stations.
The 3 Intel ships don't strike me as particularly remarkable and I disagree with Cryptic's decision to give these ship cloaking abilities... but that is a totally different topic. The Eclipse basically reminds me of a KDF battle cruiser. The Phantom is nice I suppose, but I do not have a Fed tactical toon at this moment. The Scryer...yeah it's a science ship that is more focused on science than the Dauntless which is not a complaint at all. The problem is the appearance... it looks like a doughnut with engines to me so I simply call it the "Dunkin' Donut" ship.
Risan Luxury Cruiser T5 is now Risan Luxury Cruiser T5-U now has stronger hull and mod to go with with and extra tac console too. I am using this 99% and 1% on Risan Corvette T5-U (aka Escort with supercharger!).
Just started with the Eclipse after getting my Avenger to SM4 and have to say the Eclipse is flimsy compared to the Fleet Avenger even without the mastery levels. It'll be interesting thosugh when the T6 ships come out.
The only ship I upgraded was my Mobius Destroyer and I think I'll never fly anything other, on level 58 about 55k hull, a fifth tac console, mastery only fives tactical buffs, it is the ship I always wanted to get
Thr new ships are something I really do not like, maybe I'd buy the Phantom but it has not enough engineering slots for my setups (ET, Aux2Engines+connhologramm, 2x shield polarity for my optimal PvP and PvE hybridbuild)
Intelskills are not as nice as I've been hoping, only nice would be Intelteam but for this I will not spend money, better wait for Qs winter event and hope for an intel lieutenant to use that skill
I immediately upgraded my Fleet Nebula to T5-U; in addition to the tweaking the ship got as per the dev announcements(improved turn rate/inertia), with my Dyson set on it(itself, all upgraded to Mk XIII) and with space traits figured in, I'm holding at 59k Hull, and far more than enough regen/repair to easily tank PvE ships in a 1 v 1 scenario...and with all my crowd control and teammate support options, I'm quite happy with it!
Gonna get all of it's traits and such topped out before I consider upgrading anything else.......perhaps my Risan Luxury Liner....
Been enjoying my Surgical Strike Eclipse and my upgraded Vacuum Bastion is even more potent than it already was(love the level 3 ship mastery on it - I regularly see maxed out fighters now and almost never have to wait to reinforce them).
The Aelahl has more control options than I was expecting from a ship without a LtCmdr Sci seat, but with the health-scaling of Delta Rising, I find the damage/time-to-kill to be a bit more underwhelming than I expected. That said, it does 'feel' responsive and agile to fly around with a ship of that size/class.
I got the Dauntless Experimental Science Vessel just recently and have to admit that it's the ship that got me excited. Too early to really say, but it might be the science ship I was looking for, for a long time. It's extremely fun to fly, very enjoyable and will make my spend much much fun moments tweaking different roles, setups and different gears.
SML5'd the Benthan.
SMLing the Hazari.
Not sure what I'll do then...probably Phantom for Reciprocity.
At some point, I may or may not end up flying a ship I want to fly...lol.
I'm currently rocking the Tier 5U dyson science destroyer, plus 15% exotic damage and 10% more shield hp is nothing to sniff at
"The meaning of victory is not to merely defeat your enemy but to destroy him, to completely eradicate him from living memory, to leave no remnant of his endeavours, to crush utterly his achievement and remove from all record his every trace of existence. From that defeat no enemy can ever recover. That is the meaning of victory."

I'm enjoying my T5-U bellerophon class fleet long range science vessel...
At level 50 if can join a level 60 fleet PvE battle, still do massive damage and take precious little damage in return. With 48,000+ hull and 14,000+ shields both regenerating at well over 200 each...I'm loving this ship still.
Outfitted with tetryon beams and abilities to rip through enemy shields whilst bolstering it's own defences, this ship may very well be able to take on most, if not all ships with relative ease.
Not bad for the science guy huh...you sissy cruiser-dependant types.
Well to be honest I was actually happy when they announced the DR pack had T6 ships for all factions as I play all the factions quite a lot. Though I bought it and I started using the Guardian Cruiser and it is now easily my favorite ship topping my JHDC and Mobius Temp Destroyer. It can deal a lot of damage and it is extremely tanky. It also is a mix of the Enterprise D and C which were two of my favorite ships from the shows. ( The C was in one of the TNG episodes incase you were wondering) It is essentially what the Galaxy Class should be ( minus the T6 stuff) It is an amazing ship.

I like the Cloak and Phaser Lance on the Phantom Intel Escort, she a true Predator (DPS)

These are the voyages of the U.S.S. Pioneer...
I also really enjoy my T5U Xindi-Aquatic Narcine Carrier.
My favorite among the 'default' T6 ships is the Guardian, mostly for its appearance. I didn't like the feel of it so much.
