So I am at a bit of a loss here. With DR I went out and purchased the Scryer as my primary ship (I am a sci btw). My primary focus is drains with using phased polarons, the JH 2-pc bonus with the deflector and shield, Tyken's, ES, etc..... But I don't really know what to slot in that extra BOFF slot I know have -- the LTC Eng. Right now I am using DEM2 because it makes sense to increase my damage to shielded targets until I can drain and disable them. The only other thing I can think of is RSP2 as an emergency defensive power -- specifically in cases where I want to draw agro to get the conservation of energy trait stacking to boost exotic damage. Ideas?
Eject Warp plasma is a good sci skill... if you switch your focus form drains to dmg... EWP is boosted by the Partical Manipulator trait as well. Should you go with a dmg build and use TBR with a reversal doff its easy to drag NPCs through your trait.
Aux to Damp is also a good option.
Aux to Sif is also a great option.
DEM not that great honestly on a sci ship... long fire rate weapons and you only have a max of 6 energy weapons. DEM won't do much for you really.
EWP is not one I would have thought of. I am speced fairly high in partgens as well, plus I have the traits to make it work more effectively too. Lots more possibilities here than I first imagined.

If you have a drain build, you probably have high flow cap skill. Have you considered using dominion polarons instead of the phased ones to get more shield draining instead of counting on that phaser proc which rarely happens?
As for what to use in LCDR Eng slot, aux to SIF is nice because the cooldown is very short and it adds a damage resistance buff too. It's not as much of a heal as engineering team, but it can be run every 15 seconds without needing DOFFs.

I have, and probably should, but then the thought of repeating "Boldy They Rode" 5 times puts me off. It isn't a mission that I like enough to replay, and it isn't quick enough to outweigh it not being a fav mission. That said the Dom Polarons make the most sense for a drain build. And I am a few more days away from being able to craft my own superior beam upgrades so cost wise to upgrade them will be cheap. Honestly I went with phased polarons because I had them in deep storage so why not upgrind them and use them.
Plus while I am still getting used to a new ship and its quirks I am not sure how many heals would be beneficial. For hull heals I already carry ET1 and HE2. Which kinda makes me think AuxSIF2 maybe overkill but its quick CD is a bonus.

You are not the only one that feels the same way. I put together a Mirror Heavy Cruiser Retrofit build for my Fed Engineer using the free protonic polaron beam arrays I obtained while doing the Dyson Rep system. It's mostly for fun 'cuz I like the looks of the polaron beams. I need to retrain that toon though to increase flow caps to at least 6 since I have also given that toon a plasmonic leech.
I also want to do a polaron build for my science toon which means doing "Boldly They Rode" 10 times to get 6 Dominion polaron beam arrays for my Fed Engineer and 4 of 'em for my science toon....
At the moment I can contemplating between doing that mission 10 times and putting a loaded gun to my head... I am trying to decide which provides the better outcome...
I find that EWP is a waste of an ability. DEM is a better choice and the best choice is likely Aux2SIF since you should already have decently high Aux power when power is focused on weapons. My science toon relies on Aux2SIF and HE to repair hull damage.
I'd go A2SIF, since you're already likely running high aux and the extra durability is nice for the lighter hull of sci ships. Cool as EWP can be on a cruiser as a 'get off my tail' ability, it does mean getting into close range and out of the arc for the rest of your sci stuff, so doesn't really play to the rest of the ship's strengths. Or you could always just pump one of your EPTx abilities up to 3, then use the Lt slot for RSP1 or A2D1.
