Gather intelligence

How do I "gather Intelligence"?

It isn't in my ability tray.
I have a T6 ship.
I have a T6 boff.
What am I missing?
Should I start posting again after all this time?

    Do you have an actual intel ship? Not all T6 are intel ships. Feds have 3, rom 1 and kdf 1.

    So without an intelligence ship, any mission (such as With Friends Like These..) that includes a Gather Intelligence on Delta Quadrant Species part after doing patrols can't be completed?

    This sounds like a poor design flaw. The mission shouldn't be available until someone has the appropriate gear/ship/etc.

    Actually the gather intel missions are separate and are actual missions...the tier 6 intel ship abilities are for in combat kinda like the crusier commands.

    So what are the three Fed Intel ships?

    Only the Fed Scryer is a Intel Ship,the other 2 Sci Ships are only with a Intel BO but not with the Intel Ability.

    The federation Intel ships are the phantom the eclipse and the scryer. Gather Intel works like sensor analysis but has activateable powers that perform a different debuff each.

    @OP: By "gather intelligence" I assume you mean the objective during some of the patrol missions in delta quadrant? The ones where you need to visit 3 or 4 systems plus "gather intelligence"?

    That objective to "gather intelligence" has a sub-objective: "Speak to Subcommander Rai Sahen".
    And there should be a button to contact subcommander Rai Sahen near the bottom right corner of your screen (or whereever you moved your low-priority interaction window).

    So that is how you do it. You talk to Rai Sahen, who will give you another patrol mission to do. Only this one usually comes with a little twist to the reason why you are killing 5 waves of 5.

    In the lower right there will be a button that says "hail subcommander such and such." This will bring up a romulan who will give you the next mission. This threw me for a bit too.

    You are correct, you don't need an 'Intel Ship' to complete any mission objectives anywhere in the game.

    Gather Intelligence is a ship mechanic specific to vessels designated 'Intel Ships.' The mission where you gather intelligence is something different and can be completed in any ship.

    As stated above, just because a ship has the capability to use Intel Abilities, it doesn't make it an Intel Ship. For example, the Guardian Cruiser is not an Intel ship.
