Only upgraded one ship so far on my main(Fed Sci), namely my Fleet Nebula...; actually it's the only ship across all 5 of my characters I'll likely have to pay to upgrade, so naturally, it's the 1st ship I'm taking into DR!
Pretty pleased with it, so far...working my way through the story missions, but will likely avoid any STFs until I get a few extra levels in, just to be sure!
My main (Fed Tac) briefly tried his Phantom Intel Escort, but quickly returned to his JHDC w/JHAS (T5-U)...with (almost) everything upgraded to Mk XIV (UR).
My Fed Eng is torn between his Narcine and the Guardian. That may take a few weeks/months of fly-offs and mastery progress to make a final decision.
My Fed Sci is similarly torn between his Fleet Atrox, his Vesta, his Wells, and the new Scryer. That's a lost cause. Roll of the dice, methinks.
My Rom Tac will soldier on in his Fleet Ar'kif.
My Rom Eng will continue in his Recluse.
My Rom Sci is torn between his Dyson warbird and the new Intel warbird.
My KDFs get so little attention I doubt they'll even enter the Delta Quadrant until late 2015.

why did you go back to your JHDC? I am asking because I too have the Phantom but haven't had any real time flying it.

Part of it was that I missed flying a carrier (and my precious, oh-so-expensive JHAS pets), but it was mostly a practical decision, since I'd already upgraded most of my JHDC build (Romulan plasma) to Mk XIII, and that's beam arrays. The time and cost of upgrading a DHC build for the escort was just too much to chew for now. Once I get to Mastery Level 4 on the JHDC, I think I'll switch to the Guardian to unlock its Mastery traits, then maybe back to the Phantom for its traits, and then probably go back to my JHDC permanently.
With 2 levels of Mastery, I was able to pull 30K+ in the new ISA with the JHDC, so I think by the time I hit Level 60, it'll be more than viable compared to the new T6 shinies.
I play primarily to have fun, and I gave up on hardcore minmaxing a while ago. I'll stick with what I enjoy!
