The Kazon tech story upgrade seems lazy...

We probably wouldn't have left the stone age, however. Imagine having to calculate the flight curve of a spear to determine whether you can use spears to hunt animals - when you don't even have a language yet! :D

(Makes me wonder - could their be aliens that did not evolve from hunters that would have no idea how to use ranged weapons because their brains simply have never evolved the necessary hand-eye coordination and the ability to predict movements? Or would such creatures never be on a path to sentience?)

You can calculate the flight curve of a spear to use it to hunt animals. You are, infact, so highly evolved for this purpose that the calculation happens at the neurological equivalent of firmware level. The hard bit isn't doing the calculation, it's explaining it.

As for aliens less predatory than humans - we are seriously terrifying.

It's also possible that most Kazon are smart and we just happened to see the dumbest sect on Voyager.

And a pig can fly if you move it fast enough. doesn't make it reasonably likely.

This thread is a waste of space, realistically speaking of course it's how the Kazon would get the majority of the tech they have.

Patch Day always brings out the quality threads.

I find the story no more unbelievable than they stories they come up with for us flying certain ships etc..

Think for a momment if the kazons are always using obsolete technology and they have t-5 ships yet everyone else in the STO universe is using t-5us and t-6s doesnt that imply that again kazons are still way behind everyone else in technology?

The flyable Undine and Tholian ships are the most bizarre there, given that the original creators and pilots are both entirely non-humanoid and from effectively different planes of existence. I mean, why the hell would a bioship have buttons for control purposes?

They were constructed organically, but were still technological creations and not organisms.

Kazon ships are not theirs. Kazon ships are stolen ships. More than that, the creators used the same models before in other species along all the star trek franchise. My point is, the kazon doesnt even have proper uniquer ships. We could say that, we like the kazon re-used models, but those are not kazon ships. They belong to someone else...

    The race was the trabe.

Also while most kazon ships were weak, the big ones (predator class) had enough firepower to take voyager if they had 2:1 odds.

The true question of the day should be, why would anyone fly one of those hunks of junk? :P

I didn't mean to say the Enterprise should be hauling garbage. I meant to say she should be hauled away AS garbage.

The Kazon ships being not-junk isn't quite as bizarre as being able to fly undine ships, but it does seem pretty awkward.

IMO the way to make the Kazon work like on the show would be to make them 1/3 as powerful as their equivalents in other factions, but make each spawn have three times as many Kazon ships. But Cryptic is married to the idea that all npc ships of a certain class are more or less equal, so now we have kazon ships modernized to be on par with canon powerhouses like the D'deridex and the Negh'var.

This is what I wish they would have done. Make the ships weaker but instead of spawning 3, spawn 6, etc.

This actually could work pretty good. In the missions I noticed more cruisers and battleships as 1vs1 fights. Making the kazon pre delta style squads of frigates would be noticeable and fit with lore.

honestly? no. It'd make AoE builds better than they are now, but... just them.

If I get one today I'll slap on a fresh coat of paint (T5u) and head off into the unknown

Of course it is lazy, did you expect anything less? They have dropped the ball when it comes to fleshing out allot of areas, this will be another. Perhaps iam being premature but perhaps they will flesh it out or explain it. So much content in regards to the DQ, lets just hope they dont drop the ball as usual.
