I wish they'd sell something, anything besides ships in the C store. I don't need more ships. I don't want more ships. I want the emote pack. I want the little quality of life things. Heck, I'd buy an option to paint the Belfast inetior's beige carpets and walls jet black.
I ask nothing but that you remember me.

I am very much in favor of player housing! In fact, I'd pay good money to get good bridges, be able to customize my interior, etc. With tacofangs in charge of it, though, I don't think we'll see it happen.

I'd definitely pay for a boff trait system too!

thanks for like cutting out the bit where I said if I am going to spend money I want people to see it.
I expect there are some who would spend money on this but before measuring how much money cryptic must gauge how many there are like me who would not spend money on something nobody will ever see, I suspect they have already done this and that is why you don't see much of it in the c-store.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

What I don't get is why people around here always fly off the handle over hypothetical discussions.

There's nothing wrong with more choice, ultimately it's up to the consumer in question how and where they choose to spend their money.

while this is true before choosing something to buy that is hypothetical you must consider the chances that cryptic would make money off of the hypothetical items in the first place, after all that is how the question was worded, "List the ways Cryptic can make more money" you could say I would spend money on a uniform that is pink with green spots on it but if you pretty much know it wont make cryptic money it does not fit with the way the question is worded.

this is not a what do I want thread that posters seem to think it is.
otherwise the OP should have asked "what would you spend money on" not "List the ways Cryptic can make more money".

Agreed. I feel far too many of Cryptic's eggs are in the 'ship / lockbox (cause ship)' basket. Leading to things like T6, T5U, Fleet Versions, etc. How many times will a person be willing to buy the same thing?
I'd much rather see Housing used as an EC sink.

No reason it couldn't be both. Offer up 'size upgrades' via zen, detailed textures/animations for zen, but have all the bits costing EC to place.

That makes two of us. (Probably more.)

As for the OP, Cryptic's lack of deliberation on balance has stopped me from further spending money in this game. Before anything else, I'd like to see that addressed.

    Then:

    - Emotes.
    - Customizable bridges, like Penthouses in Champions.
    - Emotes. There is a dancing emote missing for males, the "default" one when you idle in the dancing contest in Risa. It is only available as a part of a emote "bundle" like /dance or /dance_club and not as a standalone emote.
    - Being able to optionally bring a BOFF of choice to tag along in social zones.
    - The Doctor's hair.
    - Did I say emotes? The "Nerve Tonic" dance is available for free and even for males in Neverwinter.
    - More costume pieces are always welcome.
    - Seriously, emotes need work here. In New Romulus' cutscenes, your character will do two emotes (/bow and /attention with hands at sides) and both of them are not available to use elsewhere. I know /bow was available in the C-Store a long time ago. Bring it back please?
    - Mood selector, like in Champions.
    - Champions has a /talk emote. STO NPCs use it, but players can't.
    - Being able to choose ANY interior regardless of ship. I am looking at you, Lockbox ships. If you think this breaks immersion, not only immersion is a rare thing in this game already, but giving players the choice won't affect (too much) others that care about it.

I'd pay for any of the perks above.

I don't care much about housing, since our ships are pretty much our houses (YMMV). But it could be an interesting addition, depending on how it's done.

stop selling but still support the original veteran pack. Make a new one. Sell. Rinse. Repeat yearly

Sell a single (per faction) t6 faction ship with console. Call it the t6 bortasq, oddie, and scimitar. If you bought the original 3 pack you can bring the 3 consoles over and not they are 4 packs.

so you have player housing be it a dwelling or your ship and spend a small fortune on vanity items to deck it out, who is going to see all this stuff? just you and the very rare guest.

if I am spending money in game I want everyone to see it.
Housing is not just about showing off to others but looking over your accomplishments over the years and the housing could and should be your ship unless someone what to buy a starbase for themselves for some serious change...

I would drop a few hundred easily on some great things for the interior of my ship and if a cool starbase was an option for even more I would give it a full measure of consideration for sure...

First, improve the desirability of some things already in the Cstore.

Doff packs should always give a purple doff, non purples are useless for a vast number of players. Additionally they should always grant some lobi, say 8, even when not on special.

    Secondly, unbind capability.

$5 Special Box: Allows you to repack any lockbox or fleet ship into a new account bound box.
$2.50 Special Doodad: Allows you to change any item from character bound to account bound.

Those ideas would be awesome services. I can already think of at least $50 worth of purchases off the top of my head right now.

To put it simply, a better quality game = more money, at least from me anyway.

Dude, you nailed it. The only 4 things this game needs to become a decent game. Sadly, i dont think those things will become true.. ever. At least thats my case, i will be happier if those 4 points were taken in consideration. If i am happier its more probably that i will charge zen someday.

And unfortunately i noticed that the player base, well not the player base, but the players who post on these forums (of course a lot of em are lfs.. ) are not worried about the quality of the game, and they only want new things to do, even if the overall quality is really terrible. So, the points 1-3 will never be taken in consideration. And still, cryptic / pwe are really filling their pockets and they could gain even 200% more money if the game had some sort of quality control.

Well, my guess is people willing and able to "spend a few hundred" aren't exactly representative of the average customer.

Housing and Interior ship design for the players, was one of THE Major Factors of that game that made it so darn popular.

Just because you don't care for it, don't assume that there isn't a Very Large population of players who would spend money on it.

Having a way to individualize ones interior, would be the reason people would invite other players to their ship more often.

I suspect that the reason Cryptic isn't doing it is two-fold:

    1) Because their original game engine doesn't really have this capability and They would have to design the software from the ground up to add it.

    And

    2) They don't have the man-power at this time, to devote to creating such a system.

Some great replys. Some folk not happy with the bugs, i get that.

I guess cryptic might want to get someone that does makeovers in real life. Eg fashion concious people and ask those people to look into the quality of the game. Make it more beautiful.

AS for the original thread topic. I could word it anyway i want it will still boil down to this.

Cryptic is a business or should i say pwe. Feedback from customer (players) is the lifeblood of any business. aka Customer service.

Keep the ideas coming. I know there are more out there. Just dont flame, please. This should be constructive feedback not destructive.

There is a Stigma to this game. I think that most of the people playing the game expect that anything new added to the game should have a Star Trek theme. I think that this idea has been tossed out the window. TBH it should. This is a game. Whatever improvements that can be added to the game Star trek or not should be added. If that Stigma can be broken and ppl can look at the game for what it really is (a space combat sim with RPG elements added) then I think that people will appreciate the game more and have more Fun playing it. That being said here are some things that I would like to have added and I would be happy to pay for them.

    1. I think charging 500 zen for extra Space/Ground trait slots up to 8/8 would net them a instant 20 dollors from just about everyone playing the game.

    2. Add a unique bridge for every ship in the game. Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Lockbox and Lobi. Charge 1000zen for each bridge. Once you have bought the bridge you can use it on any ship.

    3. Add a Option to buy any race of boff. Undine, Cardassian, xindi, human doesn't matter what it is. Every race should have 2 Space traits and 2 Ground traits. There should also be a Tactical, Engineer and Science option for each race of boff. If I want all undine as my bridge officers then it should be able to be done. These boffs would cost 300 Lobi each. There should not be a Limit on how many you can purchase that only hurts cryptics pocket book and its a stuppied mechanic.

    4. The Most important addition I can think of is the ability to Craft your own ship. I was hesitant about mentioning this because I don't want ppl to "short change" the idea. When the ability to craft your own starship is added to the game I think that it should be Complicated, Time consuming, very expensive and Very,Very rewarding. It should be a Game all to itself. I think that to be able to craft your own starship you should first have to obatain a Master builder Starship Trait. This of course will be a extra hub added to your crafting system. The Hub will contain Crafting stations for Main Hull, Secondary Hull, Nacells, Pylongs, Wings, Size. (more to be added later). Everything will work the same as your crafting does now. There will be a Obtainable trait at level 15 for each of the crafting stations. Each level will add items that can improve the ship your flying now or make items for a New ship you plan to build. For example the Size crafting station will start out like this. You will be able to craft Shuttles the first few levels. As you level, you will be able to eventually craft ships the size of a scimitar or bigger.

The Monotizing potential of a Starship Crafting addition to the game is priceless. With a single item you know how much it is. Cryptic could add a Dilithium price to starship crafting the same way it has to the exsisting crafting. People could make ships, ship parts. They could add the ability to visually change the way a ship looks. Even change the way phasers and Torpedos shoot from a ship. When crafting you pick the spot for the weapon. People would love it. In conclusion this is a very early idea of what cryptic could do with adding a Starship crafting hub to the game. I would like it to become a reality. Something like this would be at least a year away if they started on it today. I think it would make players very happy and cryptic could make money. Its a win win.

a I said in an earlier comment as this thread was titled "List the ways Cryptic can make more money." I thought the idea was to suggest things that cryptic might find profitable.
I suspect that the reason Cryptic isn't doing it is one-fold:
cryptic obviously believes there are many more like me as this has been suggested many times and cryptic obviously thinks it is not a money spinner.
the whole idea of a vanity item like in real life is for as many people to see it as possible, this is why people buy jewellery, posh clothes and accessories, so they don't have to invite people back to their place but for people to instantly see how well they are doing.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

in that case perhaps the thread title should have been "what would you like to see in game" rather then "List the ways Cryptic can make more money."
though the replies are what the posters would you like to see in game its highly unlikely many of them would actually make cryptic more money.

Honestly, story - I've not played much at all lately due to the lack of story development, I log in once every month or so to play the latest bits. That said Delta Rising seems to be changing that so fingers crossed. more playing, more money spent.

hope you enjoy the story line content from the first episode it looks like it might be quite good, sadly once you have played the story content you will be back to logging in once every month or so most likely.
the biggest problem for you and anyone who mainly enjoys story content is cryptic cant keep adding new stories at the rate you or anyone else can play them not to mention having the space to store the extra story content.

Cryptic could make more money from me by putting Chroniton single beam arrays that don't have an equip limitation in the lobi store.

or by putting the season 5 test reward in the c-store :p
