Gorn Combat Ships

So, we have Gorn ships. Science ships which are excellent, until endgame...at which point they become mediocre, at best. But what about our non-science Gorn characters? The Klingon Empire isn't nearly so monolithic as the Federation; its member races operate their own craft.

My Gorn characters are all stuck flying Klingon ships, and the science captain is flying an Orb Weaver, since even the fleet version of the Varanus simply does not compare with the Orbie, Palisade, or Krenn when it comes to a tactically-oriented science vessel. And, considering PVE is still just a DPS race, let's avoid the whole "But it's a support ship!!" argument...because 'support ship' just means something that isn't even pulling its own weight in end-game PVE.

So, how about it? Could we *please* get some Gorn combat vessels? Maybe the "Gorn battleship" that was mentioned by a dev way back in 2010? That's just a WEE BIT overdue.

I'm not even asking for any new, special models or anything; making the Tuatara and the Balaur playable would thrill me to death. The Zylant would also be nice, if it wasn't so lop-sided. I'd buy both. Make it a 3-piece set with the Vishap, throw in the Naga fighter and a rock-throwing ground trait, maybe a TOS outfit, call it a 5,000 zen bundle, and I'd buy the whole thing.

Also, please understand I'm not expecting you guys to jump, and TRIBBLE out some new content overnight or anything; I've worked in game design, and I play games on Teamspeak with devs from Crytek and Cloud Imperium Games every night, so I fully understand the process involved in this kind of thing...but I thought I'd put up my begging post to see if anyone else is interested, and add my little 'shut up and take my money' bit to the end. After all, they're lizardmen. They're cool. They nom what no man has nommed before. They just need some proper lizardman combat ships and the ability to throw rocks.

Meh. I'm a huge fan of the Gorn but the way I see it, the Klingons beat the Gorn in space mostly because they build better combat ships. The Vor'cha and Negh'var are superior to the Tuatara and the Zilant.

That said, there are a few skins for KDF ships with a Gorn-ish look/feel. The Tor'khat, for starters, and I think the alt skin on the QIn raptor. Either of those, especially I think the Tor'khat, gives you a good option for endgame combat focus.

Yeah I agree the non-klingon aspect of the ship line is rather lacking. We should have at the least a battle cruiser/cruiser/or destroyer, science, and raider for each of those side races. This is the sweet spot for the KDF to balance it out with federation content but its virtually ignored being that the majority of the players don't do KDF like some of us do so we are not as important.

Extremely unlikely to ever happen. The devs can't be bothered to even make Fleet version of most of the ships we already have, so the possibility of new Gorn ships is remote.


But meanwhile, here's another Fed cruiser.

A fleet Draguas or Phalanx would even be nice, if it had a Lt. Com tactical station, like half the Fed and lockbox endgame science vessels. That's why my Gorn is currently flying an Orb Weaver.

I will second the motion. My Gorn flies a Bortasqu, as its a big lumbering thug like he is!

I'd be happy with a Tuatara skin for the vorcha and a Balaur skin for the Bort, But I'd willingly pay for the pack suggested by the OP.

I imagine if one is added, Cryptic should give it a pop-up torpedo pod(or a pair for right/left), like the cadmium missile launcher on Godzilla 1985's SuperX.

I also agree that there should be a Gorn cruiser and escort/raider. My Gorn tac is currently flying an Elachi escort. While it is a nice ride, he would still prefer something from the home world.

Just because they are not science doesn't mean they will not do well in a science vessel.

wow that's old, the tuatara was still called the draguas




anyways, I would love either a T6 gorn support (science) vessel or a gorn battleship/dreadnought. One of the missions in delta on kdf side you help out a gorn zilant battleship and they join up with ya.

Every KDF race should get a T6 ship, IMO. Lots of potential for different and creative designs that fit different niches. Sadly the previous race-specific ships are notoriously poor sellers, so the odds of this are poor.

Personally, I want a Vesta-ish Gorn sci-stinger and an Orion Eng/Tac FDC. Mixes up available niches for existing race ships without abandoning their core specialties already defined by those existing ships.
