EV Suit not functioning properly

I was working on one of the extra missions to finish off a Reputation and I had to go down into one of those caves on New Romulus and they said I needed an EV Suit.

I said to myself, "Fine, no problem; I've got plenty."

I equipped it to my character and went down in the cave.

The second I get to the area with the noxious gas, my character gets "HELD" and his health saps away.

But that shouldn't happen since my suit is equipped. I even activated it and this still happened like I was just going into this wearing my regular uniform.

Did you active the EV suite prior to going into the cave? Press "P" and look for the EV suit unlock the "P" and drop the EV to your ground tray. Lock the "P" click okay. Now toggle on EV suit to active the oxygen so you can breath in your EV suite. Some of these suits have to be activated where you see the light turned on.
