I usually play a Debuffer Torpedo Boat. Up until now I always went with a mix-n-match approach to avoid the shared cooldowns and to spread around the status effects. I thought that I would give a solid type a shot (minus one slot reserved for the TDD). I decided to go with Plasma because I never really used them before. My Main is a Romulan (Fed-Aligned) and I will likely be moving to the Faeht because I want to try out the the Kinetic Magnet and Transport Warhead Abilities. I do not need Skill Advice -I am okay there. I am just interested in Sets.
So with that bit of background in mind, what Space Set would you all recommend for a Plasma Torpedo/Debuffer? AMACO seems logical, as does Romulan. Would you go with a two piece from a single Set and one extra? Or perhaps two bits of Two-Set Pieces? And which ones would you recommend?
While not the same as the Faeht Intel Warbird i use a plasma torpedo build on a Intrepid Retrofit.
Since i designed that ship to be primarily PVE and thus had no need for extensive cloak detection i opted for the Reman Space set.
If however you want to use this for PVP as well then i'd advice the Romulan space set.
Considering that you will be using a EBC ship i assume your plasma weapons are the Particle Emission Plasma Torpedo Launcher and fleet plasma torpedoes.
The Romulan Hyper-Plasma Torpedo Launcher and Omega Plasma Torpedo Launcher both have long firing sequences which is contrary to the EBC.
In case you have a different opinion I'd love to hear you reasoning.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I forgot to mention that it is a PvE Build. I meant to and it slipped my mind. On the rare times that I do PvP it is only against friends would don't have PvP Builds anyway.
It is okay that you answered with Intrepid experience. I was just throwing the warbird out there because people tend to ask what ship class requesters use to help narrow down the focus.
I tend to use the EBC off and on. It tends to hurt me rather than help me. If the enemy can't target me then they lock on to the torpedoes instead. I imagine that it would be more effective with Transphasics than Plasma. Right now I have generic VR Plasma Torps. My Torpedo Crafting is only at Level 10 at the moment. I do intend to upgrade them to the stink cloud variants when I get up there, though.
I have heard that the Omega Torp loses power over range like energy weapons (since it is an energy weapon of sorts). I usually stay back and do long-range bombarding so that I can work in a Support Role for the rest of the team. If the Omega really does drop off over distance then it would not work out so well for me.
I was looking at the Hyper Torpedo. I figure a TS3 and the Kinetic Magnet would be a pretty devastating combination. They look like HYs but also become more so with the HY skill. Does the Romulan/Reman Sets make a difference on its default firing mode or just the boosted one?
Do you think that the Reman Set's Speed Boost is better than the AMACO Damage Buff?

Personally i think that the greatest strength for the plasma torpedo lies in its HY. When it hits, it hits like a truck.
The vulnerability for plasma is obvious if you have ever used it against cardassians, tholians or voth. The HY projectiles can be targeted by BFAW, TS, GW and TR.
While the adapted maco adds strength to the projectiles warhead it does nothing to counter the inherent weakness of the HY projectile.
The increased speed and hitpoints of the HY plasma from both Romulan and reman sets are preferable IMO because they allow the projectiles to survive the many hazards and hit the target.
Others may disagree though. The best known EBC users are the B'rel and T'varo retrofit and these two designs thrive with bomber build/short range ambush.
In addition wait for some additional replies here since it is always a good thing to hear multiple opinions.

You make valid points. I've been playing with the T'varo for a while now. I used it packed the with TDD, Trics, Chronos, and mines to match (with Hot Pursuit to back them up). It can indeed be annoying to have projectiles die on the way. The character is only a couple of months old. I have been working on the Reps. All the AoE abilities have been taking their toll on all of my destructibles.
Your advice is appreciated. I'll look through that site. Thanks.
On my tvaro torp boat i went with counter command deflectors, adapted maco engines+shields. Since i'm in stealth full time even while plinking away with all my launchers my shields are off right? so i figure if my shields are never on that slot is pretty much a "stat stick" type of thing. Fleet shields would be useless there i think with their different types of resistance stats. So because of that i went with AMACO shields, AMACO engine for the 2pc 25% torpedo bonus. And the CC deflectors for the +17.5 projectile damage (as well as 5% accuracy and 26.2 PG which benefits my build).
If you want to know if that +17.5 projectile damage is worth it then hop into your ship, make sure all your crew is alive and pop tac team 1 and see how much damage increase it gives you. TT1 gives you +18 projectile damage. So you can make a comparison using that boff ability.
Now if you could just tell me how to keep my crew full. Because I apparently use them to shield my hull. :P
You could just go into orbit above ESD or New Romulus or something. Unless of course you really really wanted to make a comparison in combat or with a meter or something.
8305dmg 977dps >>> 8465/995
Those are the numbers for my grav launcher before and after i popped TT1. Its really just to see how much it increases it by. You *know* its going to go up but you dont know exactly how much. An actual comparison isnt really needed unless you were planning on comparing different set pieces or something. But i think that CC deflector, AMACO shields/engine is the best combo for buffing projectile damage.

Oh, I know that. I was making a joke about how one pretty much wipes out the entire on my ship.

I think that you are right. But I think that I am going to go with a CC Deflector and the two-piece from the Reman Set. That ought to provide a nice balance between warhead damage and HY survivability plus the personal survivability great shields and dodge rate boost.
Thanks, everybody. Y'all helped me make up my mind. I appreciate all of your help.

Yeah, I know. But I am interested in the Intel BOff abilities and sadly the T'varo can't use them.
