Hmmm some of you guys are pretty convincing... I am certainly close to holding off on it, DESPITE those crazy people who say it is an awesome ship. I know they are just messing with me.

I will likely start a 2nd thread on this next question then:

Assuming current ships will soon be obsoleted, are ANY of the current ships on sale worth buying just to unlock the console, skin etc?

(I'm lookin' at you, Vandal Destroyer and your Leechy console)

Thanks for the replies so far!

Pe'tok! I'm very serious. It is my main ship. I've not used another since I purchased it. It is super bad-TRIBBLE. If you think otherwise you are the crazy one.

    - 9 console T5-U ships have 12 Boff slots and 10 console slots
    - special 9 console T5-u ships like the Guramba have 12 Boff slots, 10 console slots + built in ability
    - Fleet T6 ships will probably have 13 Boff slots and 11 console slots

The Garumba is already at a disadvantage compared to current T5.5 ships.

There are plenty of threads talking about how T6 ships have some noticeable advantages over their T5u equivalents.

When T6 Fleet ships hit, you'd be looking at an even wider gap-you'll be looking at a 10% health, 1 console, 1 trait, 1 boff slot, disadvantage, and be missing out on specialist boffs.

Not worth the investment IMO-Garumba (along with the D'Kyr) are dead ends at the moment.

I had a bunch of fun playing "Rockem Sockem Robots" against a Garumba in Khitomer when I first hit VA. It lasted for 5 or so map reloads. Now THAT was fun!

Then again, that was back then.

If you like the look (which is awesome), or the playstyle of it (which is awesome), or are willing to take a gamble on a future upgrade, then buy it.

Otherwise, just wait and see what DR will give us down the road.

Considering that you can faceroll most content I would not worry too much about it being a bit less powerful. If it makes ya happy go for it. Some people drive classic cars, some people want whatever is hot off the assembly line.

    You decide.

You've got 10 levels to have fun with a Garumba before you'll be able to unlock and use a T6 ship. Or do you actually think your just gonna jump from 50 to 60 without having to level up through 51 thru 59?
Hey now, I was talking end-game. OP specifically mentioned T5u and Delta Rising, so talking about how it fares against T6/T5u/T5u Fleet is entirely fair.

OP also mentioned that (s)he doesn't actually need any more ships, and they are already max level. So how is that at all relevant?

As an endgame ship, Garumba is mediocre. As a Delta Rising endgame ship, even less capable, and compared to T6 Fleet ships, it will be rather noticeably inferior.

I wouldn't waste money on any ships right now, especially not on a Guramba.

It IS a nice ship. However it is also quite similar (from a gameplay mechanics viewpoint) to the veteran ship you already have. A ship that can be upgraded to a 10 console fleet version.
Of course the special abilities take up a console slot on the vet ship, but on the other hand that console also gives you a bonus+special ability no matter what mode you are in.
And the vet ship gets a built in battle cloak vs no cloak at all.

If you compare an upgraded T5U Guramba to Fleet-T6 ships you will be 20% behind on hull and shield capacity!

Actually, all T6 ships CAN be unlocked at level 50 and scale as you level!
Just like all Fleet-T5 ships can be upgraded at level 50 and then scale as you level.

Hey guys, just checking back to let you know that I have been reading all the good advice and opinions, and VERY MUCH appreciate them! (To the guy with the Scorpius avatar, that is why I asked the question.)

I was just kidding when I said the Guramba fans were messing with me, I *know* it is a nice ship and it is your well supported opinions that steered me towards it in the first place... it is a bit of a 'hidden gem' in the KDF arsenal.

However, what Trillscientist pointed out was also pointed out in one of the help channels I mentioned this in. That, plus a second consideration that came up (other ships that are worth unlocking, OR more importantly a few ships to unlock for their consoles) puts the Guramba purchase on hold at least for a while.

The other thread is going to be updated today with some of the most relevant points, but might be worth a look:

Thanks again, your insight and advice has been awesome!
