I admit I don't have a full grasp of Nobles/Great Houses, commoners and how the KDF fits into it all. Can a commoner become a KDF Officer to earn honour and glory? Could a distinguished KDF officer found their own House?
Do KDF recruits from Great Houses have any distinction from a commoner recruit? And most of the KDF's fleets are controlled by different Houses? Or is it a neutral entity?
Yes and yes to both questions on the first paragraph. Case and point: Martok. A commoner who rose not only to an officer level, but General and even Chancellor.
I'm not sure on the first question, but for the second on that one, each Great House controls it's own fleets and lands, but the KDF is it's own entity more under the direct control of the Chancellor. As far as I can tell the KDF itself is mostly based off of anyone who chooses to join, irregardless of backround (like Alexendar joined it, but didn't seem to be given any kind of special treatment despite being the son of Worf).
Great House members might have to join for basic training, and might not be distinguished while there, but they would have other doors opening for them after words. OR Great Houses might have their own training facilities.
I'm mostly speculating though, and just working off of what I know from the shows.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
