The Dilithium Dilemma

elvnswordselvnswords Member Posts: 184 Arc User
Ok Folks,

So with Delta Rising around the corner it occurs to me we are all facing a major issue. Long time players are likely in the same boat as I and my fleet. We are sitting on literal tons of ore, waiting for the daily countdown each day to burn out our 8000 Dil per character.

Personally I have 5 max level characters currently meaning I am going to be facing costs in the niehboorhood of 3-5 Million Dilithium total accross my account in the next year. In spite of all the I grind I know that time will be my worst enemy not getting the ore itself. Eventually that limit of 8000 a day turns into a timegate of "if you want more then this, well you HAVE to buy it. If you want to craft this item, or want to finish this project before next week, Buy our Zen...

This is frankly speaking, really sucky. Especially since with the latest Tribble patch notes the amount of ore coming in is edgng Down, we will see an even higher demand during higher demand times, driving the price of ore up on the market. So, Where does that leave us, well I would like to ask that Cryptic remove the cap on Dilithium Ore processing, if not permanently then perhaps once a month, akin to the weekend events they currently run.

What say you my fellow captains, good idea or bad?

Actually, I finally refined everything I've earned through dilithium events from the past few months. Probably because I don't play much... :P

Now I actually have to play again to keep my earnings up...

I would like to see a weekend event where they double the refine cap and double vet refining/dilithium mine.

It's a good idea... if the company wants to make no money.

I hope this is on the FCT list, if not it belongs there.

I make sure the one thing I do each day if nothing else, is refine my 8k. I have more of a problem GETTING ore to stay in supply than refining it. Want more refined Dil faster? Buy it. Simple. MOst things I can wait for a day or three until I refine enough if I dont have it. I rarely buy Dil to bypass gates. Only if I am trying to complete a set or something.

It's not THAT big of a deal. Keeping the cap at 8k has other effects. It stabilizes, somewhat, the Zen/Dil market. If not for the cap, that market would swing much more wildly than some people think it already does. It would unbearable. Economics 101 that most people in games seem to want to ignore as though being in a video game negates the reality of people's behavior.

Hey look, I've never seen a thread asking for the dilithium cap to be rasied, especially not 4 in the last week.

The cap is just fine where it is. As it's nature of being a time-based currency, raising the cap or removing it completely defeats the purpose of having dilithium as a currency.

Really? Not even sure how that's possible.

    their new to the forum?

and the suddenly are alot more common. I've seen more this week the the year before. mostly cause dill sinks before now have been really easier to ignore. I don't do anything with dil for fleets. and reps give me all the dil I need for they sets.

granted this one actually is still rather easy to ignore.

you said you'll need 3-5m dilithium in the next year, but you can refine that in just over 4 months with your current alts. you can chop time off with each alt you add. i don't really see a major roadblock to refining enough ore.

I have refined dilithium everyday on a regular bases. I do get a lot though but the min-requirements to refined sets me back though. Just got to live with the 8K refinement cap though.

I want more Dilithium Ore! They should offer it on every mission reward, every time I kill something, etc. We need more!

I almost never manage to fill my dilithium refinement cap on any characters. It's not that I have a life (I just have a job, but live alone, no girlfriend or wife or kids), it's just that I don't play STO all day. I also have Tropico to play, do some web browsing, watch some TV shows, and sometimes just goof around, rather than optimzie my dilithium ore gathering.

Wow people panic over all kinds of things.

I just got 8k dil in 45 minutes today. That's right, 45 minutes.

With the every queue getting dil you don't just have to do the Borg queues anymore, all of them will give you dil. So no more waiting around waiting on your queues to cool down because you blew through them all in 15 minutes.

And hell you can always do BGs which still give out a ton of dil.

So yeah now my 45 minute dil will have to go to and hour and half, or heck stay at 45 minutes if I do a good BG and the Defara Amabassador missions.

Really people, there's a ton of stuff I don't like about Delta Rising. This isn't one. I think people are crying just to cry now.

    Can you elaborate?

I have not been reading the Tribble patch notes because I am illiterate. :)

Clearly, we do not need more ore, because there are enough people with more than enough of it, which is why people keep asking for the cap to be raised or removed. If you want the ore, then you need to do what is necessary to get it. If you do not have the time to do what is needed to get it, then buy some Zen and trade it for RD. If you do not want to spend the money, then OH FREAKING WELL!

If you want a higher refinement cap, just do what is neccessary to get it. Make another character.

Yet another thread over the dilithium cap.................

I just dont get it whats the problem? Dont you people know how to plan?

When the news came out about D.R I myself went into a saving mode you people do understand the concept of saving right? From the time the news broke until now I have over two million dilithium refined saved. And no I do not live on this game 24/7.

I am not a cryptic fan boy so please dont start the name calling. I came up with a simple system that works for me I devote 90 minutes a day to farm my ingame currency I refine everyday the trick is I am not a must have it now gamer I understand the concept save for a rainey day.

While I do not like all the changes cryptic is doing to this game I understand they need to make money. When D.R comes live the dilithium cap will have no affect on me I have saved enough to do what I want when I want.

    NVM.

I just read in another thread that dil reward will be 240/480/960 depending on the difficulty. Since the current elite will be known as advanced, the reward will basically drop from 960 to 480.

And of course there is the issue of absolutely no more loot drops. I assume lockboxes will be an exception...

Don't forget to add that the current optional becomes mandatory and a new objective will be necessary if you want the bonus.
