Captains! Lead Designer Al 'CaptainGeko' Rivera shows off the process of bringing stories to life in Star Trek Online! Learn more about building the story of Delta Rising in our latest dev blog!
But, but, Al left out the most important point that PWE/Cryptic management cares about:
"Then we figure out how to monetize anything and everything we can...":D

what exactly do you think the people on tribble have been doing?
.....theres your play testing
Technically, we're like the second string of testers. I believe the Devs have said that the content does go through a phase of testing through QA. I think though since QA has many things to go over, they tend to miss things, which is why we're here to test them.

Yep lol. All I can say is I should be excited about this expansion but from the information I do have there are just too many existing problems at least for how I liked playing the game for me to enjoy it. I just don't see anything with this new expansion that is going to make the game any different or more enjoyable especially from the mostly KDF player perspective. If they had put as much brainstorming into that as well as the story I might have been actually impressed and excited to play this. Right now I am not even sure if I want to play again so here's to everyone who can get excited about it have a blast
That's probably a job solely for the marketing team. The devs do have to take that into consideration, but that isn't what they concentrate on.
Someone probably at Cryptic does focus on marketing, which is controlled in part by PWE. Since PWE's business model doesn't include making us pay for in game content (such as when they bring out a new episode or an expansion), they have to find other ways of making money besides the monthly and lifetime subscriptions. $15 dollars a month, $300 per lifetime sub, $5 to $160 dollars for items in the c-store isn't much when you have employees to pay, not to mention getting iconic trek actors into the game.
Let me be clear: Making a game like STO costs a lot of money. The marketing team knows that not everyone can/is willing to spend money on a game. Those the are impatient and have money to burn will spend it out on the systems that require dilithium by purchasing zen. Refined dilithium is easy to get when you can spend money. When you can't spend money, then it just means it'll take you longer to get stuff that impulsive spenders can afford. The developers know that not everything they do will be treated with the same level of love by the player base. They're simply trying to cater to everyone equally.
Is it me or did Kim enjoy the good life a bit too much and gained his fair share of pounds.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
This thread is not about discussing the marketing aspects of the game. It's about the blog.

If the attention to detail and commitment to quality reflected in that blog entry is representative of Cryptic in general, that particular aspect of their work ethic needs serious improvement. I've graded papers from high school age teens that contained fewer typos, omitted words, and grammatical errors.
Looking for a new fleet? Drop by the in-game chat channel, "tenforwardforum", and say hi to the members of A Fleet Called Ten Forward (Fed) and The Orion Pirates (KDF). If you already have a fleet you are happy with, please feel free to drop by our chat channel if you are looking for a friendly bunch of helpful people to socialize with.

So what is the point of Delta Rising? Is the original intent of the Alpha species to go after the Undine and then we run into the new baddie?
According to the videos I saw on YouTube, the Borg, Undine, and Kazons are involved in the storyline. When it comes to a specific overall bad guy, the Borg and Undine are currently the main protagonists. I am only seeing bits and pieces; thus, the information I have is still limited.
I think 'STO' has entered into the recycling loop, which was originally responsible for halting the franchise.
To me the story is the biggest part of the game. And it can make/break the game for me. You don't have to give me any rewards or goodies. The story is what I love the best. I'm looking forward to see what lies ahead in the Delta Rising on story wise.

A master race of machines..other than the borg..but smart..smarter than us. Can they be defeated? Can we become allies? Last thing we saw was Decker and Llia becoming one with the creator...was this a good thing..or a bad thing??? You never know..maybe its the one thing to bring the Borg back into the mix..assimilating a race of computerized machines that do nothing but collect information..would make the borg..or any race who conquered or allied with them..a formidable foe...something to think about.
I had a thought:
So Voyager's story is 7-9 years long - Literally 7 to 9 years long. Unless you have us in transwarp the whole way from place to place, you'll have to limit your story to one point in Star Trek Voyager's timeline.

It is rumoured although not really canon but in many novels that Decker and Ilia and V'ger are the ones that created the Borg

The rest should be scrapped and their components used to further develop these.
After all, that's what the IP is about.

Isn't he standing around pretty much forgotten on K7 ?
I don't know, is he? If so, why didn't they utilize his character as well?
