Star trek is scary!

So, was just playing ghost and shadows mission, I was like, I hate dark places, and I made the mistake of having a klingon officer with me. They are scary as heck when things are dark. :(

So, I was fine..saw some blue image people. Was like ok creepy... and bam the voice. That voice. I was like OMG beam me out now, Wife was teasing me, her being a science captain, she was all like, "It is probably a malfunction holodeck program. No need to be a wuss." GRRR@Her.

So when it was done,*spoiler* I ignored her told you remarks. I was so happy to get the data back to him. I was like never again...until I got briefed on my next mission... :(

Great job on this mission. I really liked it, got into it...and I swear I did not start shooting at random when the lights went blue.

Gotta admit when I'm doing another toon runthrough I do still enjoy those missions, and that voice is just totally creepy every time, plus after a while its creepy and annoying.

    Bonnie kin,
    Bonnie kin,
    Soon you'll be dead!

Honestly creeped me out the first time I heard it, since it was the first voice over mission I played. I didn't think it was coming from the game at first. :P Though it didn't help I was playing it at night in the dark either.

I reckon if they wanted too they could do a stealth revamp of that mission that only plays for people who are replaying it where its different to what you remember just to freak people out a little extra

    Actual liberalism, or American liberalism?

DISCLAIMER: I don't wish to have a political debate about the pro's and con's of socio-political systems, I am merely curious about word usage.

EDIT: For those who may read and not understand my distinction: in most of the world, what Americans call "liberalism" is called "socialism", and what Americans call "libertarianism" is called "liberalism". Also, I bear no ill towards American English as opposed to to British English, y'all just sound funny to me sometimes :P

I'll have to go with American Liberalism, as I'm a sheep bred and raised in the USofA.

    I'm totally pro libraries.

Have to say this is one of my favs as well, OP. I actually started out of my chair when that voice began speaking the first time. The second time I was sort of expecting it but you are correct. Just as creepy the third of fourth time around. The mission where you get the Vulcan scientist clone, the one they run on Halloween and whenever Friday the 13th ops around is pretty good as well. But it just doesn't have quite the same oomph as that voice. Might very well be the best piece of VO acting in the game.

You kidding? That mission is terrible. Not even remotely scary.

Quite literally the best 'scary' episode when I started playing. Very well done indeed.

It was kinda scary the first time but after you beat it the first time it completely looses it's scariness.
Nowadays I tend to skip it with new toons cause it's just a pain in the TRIBBLE to recollect your boffs when they are getting stuck somewhere, which happens a lot in this one. Most of the time I ended up alone at the end and deliberately died just to respawn and have my boffs there with me.

I would have liked more missions to be this atmospheric, especially that silly Friday 13th offering they give up that is nowhere near as spooky.

When I think about everything we've been through together,

maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,

and if that journey takes a little longer,

so we can do something we all believe in,

I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

That whole story arc just rules, I think it's probably my second favorite next to where you meet Obisek. the atmosphere of the broken down sections of the station is simply fantastic.

The saddest part is, it has the potential to be the single most frightening piece of story telling in the game, I mean if you wanted to get rated R it could get down right horrific. I know they can't go R, but man that could have been nutz!

For a nice splash of gore they could have gotten away with some corpses and hanging body parts if not overdone, having some much more scary insane rambling from more clones would have been great, including some dark ominous predictions of the end of time and iconians and such.. Easily some random incursions in to your mind with telepathy making your character see things.. so much possibility!! Strange voices and noises the whole nine yards!

It might make one think twice about using that Doff that's for sure.

I'm scared of deep water, because my mind races to think what MIGHT be in it. Giant sharks or undiscovered monstrous sea creatures anyone? Megalodon!

Heights. Over ten feet. I want to kiss the ground when I get down from being up too high.

Insects in general. Especially the ones that can fly. I'd probably kill myself on something else in my frantic efforts to keep a bug from landing on me.

    Spiders. See insects. Same reactions.

Being a car Passenger rather than the Driver. No kidding. I can't take it. I have a deep seated dread of not being able to control any situation that might end up killing me. You only die once. Then it's Game Over. Permanently.

Whoever wrote that mission segment has some serious psychological demons to work out.

It's one of the more interesting missions in the game. But, in general, I hate the devidian story arc.
Well excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on.

True, the Devidian arc itself is meh.

But it has our little psychopath Hologram.

One thing this mission does show is that the Dev Team can make decent missions when they are given the opportunity. I wonder how many more missions like this one in quality never make the final cut for publishing?

Now that October and Halloween is coming around, I can't wait to see what they come up with. Hopefully it isn't the same mission they posted last year and each friday the 13th. But I'm not holding my breath because of Delta Rising taking up all of their time. Thus I'm putting together my own Halloween mission (not the real name) Hopefully I get it QA'ed and out soon.

I wish that I could use the flashlights. :(

Regardless, all those foundry authors out there...this should totally be a foundry challenge.

I am one who enjoys the whole arc. I like disabling an entire Klingon squadron rather than killing them, I LOVE the voice work for the hologram, I think the devidians themselves are interesting enemies and well adapted to the style of game sto is. And the ophidian cane, anti_psychic damage shield, and ghostbuster gun and ship device whose name I always forget make great mission rewards. For me this one is a big win.
