Is there a way to keep my ship from drifting in Fluidic Space?

I'm doing a mission and it's becoming increasingly frustrating as I can never get a lock on the ship due to Fluidic Space causing my ship to drift away (or, in some cases, past) them.

I promised myself that I wouldn't try it again until I'd find out if there was some way to get that under control.

Thanks in advance for the help! :)

one (or more? can't remeber) of the Undine Rep Space Pieces eliminate the "fluidic space" effect as it is called.

You could pick up the Counter Command Hyper-Impulse Engines.
You're right. The work here is very important.

I thought that feature of the CC engine was more to do with friction/speed issues. I'm not sure it cures the "current sway" which is just dumb.

I have those engines equipped and my ship still sways in the current. I didn't bother doing the fluidic space queue until after I got the engines so I can't say if it's lessening it or not, but it definitely doesn't eliminate it.

    Beams.
Only thing that works, because it doesn't matter where you are.

Against undine in space, when you're not drifting, you're being pulled by their damn rifts. It's annoying as hell.

The CC Engine should help but It#s not working. What works is Attack pattern Omega and Aux to Structure. Against the 8427 version of Gravity Well (the Rifts) you can just skill Starship Inertial Dampeners. I have 6 Points in it on my Escort and they are no longer a problem. But Attack Pattern Omega wil make your Ship completely immune against the Rifts.

The rifts still suck big time. That wasn't the main issue, though.

Best engine to use it the one from Reman Prototype Impulse Engines Mk XII, I've use many and so far that one works. This one you get from Tier 3 from Romulan Rep. Also train your ENG BOF to use Aux2Eng added boost. Or go to the ETA Sector Answer a Distress Call and get 3 to 4 ENG boosters. Those come in handy and you also get to do a mini battle for 480 D-core daily.

    Time will only tell!

Well, that is one of the reason i dont go almost ever to the undine battlezone. fps issues + rifts + bubbles + millions of ships around me at the same time?? no, thanks. The gameplay there is so bad that i cant believe these ideas came from cryptic. Oh wait, nvm, i do believe it. :D, and no, there is nothing out there that will get you away from the rifts. Just abilities like evasive maneouvers, attack patterns and things like that. Specially abilities like pwer to engines. And some engines (hyper impulse, fe) will get you out more easily than others.

The currents are a little out of scale for being "underwater"--we are talking like near-supersonic speed here.

You do realize that when you are in Fluidic Space your ship is underwater right? Therefore subject to all the currents and eddies and so forth that can be found underwater.

A ship under the water can travel millions of times faster than the actual speed a ship can reach in the undine battlezone. We are talking about being stuck, basically, in some situations. Try to escape a rift surrounded by bubbles.. water?? nah. I wish it was like being underwater.. lol.

    Nope
Because fluidic doesn't mean it's water and even if it was water it doesn't mean it has currents. There will obviously be dynamic factors, just as you have in every means one moves through but how they manifest may be quite different.
