I'd like to run my existing captains through the Khitomer ground STF for the accolade that unlocks the Borg Science Officer. I've tried using the queues, and it's not really working out.
The Normal version almost never has anyone else queued up. If it does fill up, it seems like there's a high probability that no one else knows how the mission works, and/or someone will throw a tantrum and quit when we get to the consoles. The one time the team I was in got past the consoles, someone ran straight for the Assimilation Chambers and killed them before I could get the accolade. Yay.
The Elite version isn't much better - still a decent chance that we'll get stuck on the consoles, and an even greater chance that one or more people has their chatbox turned off (or just don't care) and I won't get the Accolade anyway because the chambers are destroyed the instant they're vulnerable.
Is there a channel I could join that might help? I'm not interested in joining a mega-fleet just to get the officer. I'm also not interested in a SUPA HARDCORE NO NOOBS channel - I'm not going to top a DPS meter, and I don't really want to try.
Considering the changes they're making to the queues for Delta Rising, it seems like it's basically "now or never" to unlock the officer, so I'd like to get it finished as quickly as I can.
The problem is more that the accolade itself seems to be broken. I got the Assimilated accolade while levelling a new character at Defera. And then when that new character finally ran KAGE, I didn't get the accolade at all, and no notification to meet at Task Force Omega. I tried numerous times to get the accolade, but no matter how many times I ran into that IMR, I never get the accolade, not even once.
Note: That new character was created just this last May, my first new character in over a year. He also is the only character to not have the Borg Scientist.
This one took me a few tries as well, every time I ran it I was in an elite queue and it took 4 times or so before I finally got it. Once or twice I didn't mention I was after the accolade in team chat and they took out the IMRs too quickly. Another time I was playing with a friend on the phone (we queued in a pug) and I was reminding him to get into the IMR when we got there... Well, guess I didn't get into the machine far enough as we both died, but he was a bit further than I. He got the accolade and I got nothing...
The last time I ran it I told everyone what I was after, they said that's fine and they'll watch for me to die there. When it was time I ran like hell into the chamber and jumped into the middle-most portion I could get to, and finally got the accolade.
Anyway, it's kind of hit or miss and probably not one that everyone gets on the first try. Give it a few more shots or run with people found in the chat rooms mentioned. (I really enjoy the people in RedditChat)
Thank you for the suggestion, I guess. But channels with "Elite" in the name don't automatically seem like a good place for me to try. As I said, I'm not interested in building for MAX DPS. (Or using voice chat, or installing a DPS parser.) I just want to run the mission on each character until I get the accolade, and then never think about it again.
I do need to go through and make sure that they all have the Borg missions finished though, so I guess I should do that first anyway. It would be really unfortunate to run the STF and get the accolade, then finish the missions later and discover that something is glitched. "Oops, doesn't count, no Borg for you."
It might not matter anyway - it seems like the teaming settings on several of my characters are glitched and I can't accept direct teaming invites. I'm sure the characters are set to "accepting invites," and the only whitelist option turned on is the one for blocking duel challenges. But someone I know in-game tried to help me with this STF last night, and I could not accept their invitation.

"Elite" simply refers to the people who have done something over, and over, and over, and over again enough times, that they now have the ability to run that mission with their eyes closed. For example, I run Defera every day. That constant has gotten me to the point where I can do the entire Hards run with one hand, while the other hand is holding a cheeseburger, and still keep up with the team without breaking a sweat. And I have successfully completed a 2-man run of all the space STFs because I have run them so many countless times, that I could do it in my sleep.
I heard the Devs actually see that as a third-party add-on, or a mod, which means it technically violates the Terms of Use. Of course, there is no way to track it, or enforce it, but still best that you not take the chance.
That is a whole mess of trouble. It opens the door to impulsive behaviour. Basically, if it is not worth the trouble to stop whatever you are doing to type out the message, it is not worth saying. I know that from experience. Being in a voice chat server with the SAME PEOPLE for several months, I eventually became so deeply-depressed, that I turned into the person that even I didn't think I could be, and I ended up having to forever part ways with that fleet for the sake of my own sanity. After I uninstalled the voice chat server, I managed to fully-recover after a while, and I eventually became me again.
Suffice it to say, I have some anger-management issues, and very violent impulses, due to bad DNA. The fact that I do need to limit myself to typing is the reason why people still like me.
I am aware that it isn't a mandatory part of the definition. But considering I've been accused of leeching because someone else's DPS parser says that I'm "only" coming in third for DPS in Infected Space Elite (at least three different times in the last week, in fact) it seems to be strongly implied.

Which is still part of the problem. I'm not that awesome. I can probably run the mission without completely TRIBBLE it up. But my only goal for being there at all is to jump into the assimilation chamber to unlock the accolade. (Which also means I'm *planning* on getting auto-killed at least once per run. On top of my normal allotment of deaths from just not having Supa Mega Gear.) Once a captain had the Borg officer, my plan was to never enter the mission again on that captain. And once they all had him, I did not plan to run the mission again.
Thank you for the replies. But since the only two channels suggested are ones I'm not comfortable joining, I guess this goes back on the "probably not going to happen" list.

If you are there asking them for help, they already know that. Which means that if (when) they agree to help you, they are not going to expect you to be awesome. They will be going in to the mission expecting to play the bodyguard role. You're not going to let them down.
I will also add that, you have to be assimilated first to get the accolade, THEN use the chamber. The best way I've found to get assimilated is go melee a few. You will be assimilated, get accolade, go to chamber before it explodes, then, when you leave the map and go to sector space, you'll get a new mission.
My fleet would be more than happy to take you through a run of KGE without prematurely detonating the IMRs so you can get the zombification accolade. You don't have to join, just hit us up for a team invite.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.

I might take you up on that this weekend, but I don't know how to get in touch with you in-game.
I thought you had to play the 'elite' version for the accolade?
The biggest killers I see in KSE are:
1. Players don't run through the room on the second floor. That second chamber, you should wait for the team, and hug the left wall going straight through together. Attack nothing, and especially don't aggro the Elite Tac Drone in there.
2. Once you've begun destroying the generators, do not engage the borg that spawn when the shields fall. Completely ignore and run away from them to the next generator, all you're doing is wasting time.
If you need the accolade, I don't recommend letting your team know beforehand, and immediately running to one of the chambers once the last generator fails. Do not stop for anything. I've been trolled countless times by players just blowing the TRIBBLE up knowing full well I needed to run through one.

That's not how it works. It's actually simpler than that. You simply have to jump into the chamber before someone activates the console to destroy it. That's it.
It does mean the team has to cooperate though. They have to give you those few seconds to do it, which for a competent team is no problem since they'll have minutes to spare. But, since they're competent, they'll also rush to activate the consoles too so make sure you tell them you need the accolade. If it doesn't look like they'll cooperate run to the first chamber you passed on the way in, outside the large room in the corridor (the one upstairs is activated right away, no time to jump in that one). I had to do that with one of my characters.
EDIT: you can do it with the chamber upstairs if you wait there on the ramp for the last shield to blow. That's if your team doesn't need your DPS to blow up the shield, which some might.

"Elite" does not mean build for DPS.
