I LIKE the Romulans, and Romulan women ARE hot, but Klingon women are hotter.

There's something inherently sexy about a passionate woman who snaps her enemies' necks. Just like George Takei's voice is like crystallized liquid sex.

I'm not defecting to the Romulans because of their women, I'm defecting because they're just universally badass.

The Klingons are too (more so), but the Romulans are willing to take an insult on the chin without starting an interstellar war. ;)

Plus, the Romulan episodes were so well-done! You were always on the edge of your seat! The tension was perfect!

Seven did get more human characterisation as the show went on, but you have a point.

Especially since she was only introduced to raise ratings. I hate it when shows do that. Voyager's only reprieve was that they at least made her an interesting character (eventually).

Agreed with all of this, but I just prefer the Klingons.

Yeah, OUaT is doing something similar, which is really cheesing me off.

(OUaT, in terms of writing quality, is Voyager with better characters.

The writers make that no-talent hack JJ Abrams look like Shakespeare)

    Once Upon A Time.

They keep trying to put Emma in a relationship with Hook despite the fact that the chemistry is all one-way (Hook's like Captain Jack in that he can have chemistry with ANYONE, but Emma is not convincingly interested), and they can't decide where they want to go with Regina.

Should've just gone full Zuko with her from the start, would've made it a lot more fun.

    ABC.

It's afraid to make any of the main characters anything other than robustly heterosexual, despite the obvious chemistry between Captain Hook (who's got about the same sexual orientation as Loki) and Prince Charming (who's pretty clearly contemplating bisexuality every time he looks at Hook). Also, Snow White does Good Things (tm) because That's What Heroes Do (tm), and gets treated like Miss Perfect while Regina and Emma just try to take care of the people they love and Regina gets piloried for basically everything she does.

The characters are generally good (Ariel and Zelena being the exceptions--the former apparently cannot have real emotions, and the latter's a whiny brat), but the writing is terrible. And now they're literally copy-pasting Elsa from "Frozen" right over. They aren't even changing her outfit.

This is the same network that decided to commit showicide on the original BSG even though it was successful. You have more luck getting blood from a stone than finding a good show on ABC*.

*Except 'Agents of SHIELD', but that's Marvel and Joss Whedon, so it would have to try pretty hard to be bad. It's basically a ABC's present-day BSG; it's only decent show which is no-doubt doomed due to the network wanting cheap shows that get ratings over anything remotely resembling quality.

    They're worse than SyFy!

Agents of SHIELD started of really, really weak and didn't really improve until after I lost interest. And even then I don't know if it's any good.

And yeah, you have a really good point. ABC is run by incompetents.

Please don't tell me you're going to try to defend oBSG, with its hackneyed plots, poor writing (how do you put out a fire in space? Expose it to vacuum, morons! It's in the landing bay, for Kobol's sake!), and "characterization" that makes VOY look deep and meaningful.

The one good thing about that show was that Glen Larson managed to get a tad bit subversive, and sneak elements of his LDS theology past the network. Other than that, it was basically a children's show that clearly reflected the network's demand that they rip off Star Wars, and fast, before the "fad" faded.

It wasn't canceled - it was mercy-killed. And the sequel series, Galactica 1980, was worse.

The show was pretty dark for the period, and the fire in space episode was after ABC tried to kill it by shifting it to the Saturday Morning time-slot.

Have a go again, watch from The End of the Beginning to The Beginning of the End, a 7 episode arc that is really quite good.
(Also never ever watch Yes Men, ever).

I wouldn't TRIBBLE her, and I don't think jonsills would either.

Some things transcend sexual orientation. Every Trekkie I've ever talked to about George Takei wants to do him, sexual orientation be damned, because his voice is liquid perfection. Miley Cyrus is like the anti-George Takei; before this thread, I had NEVER met a single person, regardless of sexual orientation, who considered her desirable in any way.

So stop putting words in other people's mouths and maybe accept that while YOU like this woman, other people can't stand her.

Everyone knows you've got a massive crush on Takei, but not EVERY Trekkie wants to do him! I can't f**ing stand him  So that last bit applies just as much to you and your crushing on Takei, and assuming that everyone else loves him as much as he loves himself, as your idea that not every hetero dude would do Miley. Personally, I'm calling BS on that, I suspect that most straight dudes, if given the chance, would do her, but to suggest that every Trekkie wants Takei, regardless of their orientation, is just plain wrong :(

Wow, really, you don't like George Takei?

    That's...strange.

But I did specifically state that every Trekkie who I had previously talked to about George Takei's desirability had agreed that he is very much an attractive man.

Anyway, this discussion is pretty obviously pointless and I have a paper to write about an Aristophanes play (which is not suitable for discussion on these forums), so TEHO I guess.

I absolutely loathe him, and find him nothing more than a tedious, sanctimonious cliche and caricature of himself. I literally cannot stand him.

The implication, was that EVERY TREKKIE TRIBBLE OR STRAIGHT wanted a piece of Takei, which frankly I find offensive, because it not only presumes many things about all Trekkies, but is also hypocritical for you to call someone out for putting words in your mouth, and then proceed to do the exact same thing yourself...

(staying out of the debate over George Takei because that can only lead to a flame war)

Well, that was very definitely not my intent, and I apologize. I was merely stating the fact that I have debated George Takei's attractiveness with a few dozen other Trek fans, and we all agreed that he is attractive regardless of our personal gender and sexual orientation.

Admittedly, we were screening "The Naked Time" at the time and his abs were ripped, but still...
