How are teams going to be decided?

    Random pairings of 5?

    Hand selections?

Going to do it in such a manner that each team has a similar chance of winning.

Each team will have a known match caller and a seasoned PvP veteran at minimum to form the base.

Naz idk but we can also use the hilbert balancing tool http://hilbertguide.com/leaderboard/balance.php to make things easier after everyone has chosen their character

The problem then becomes 1) data. Anyone with little or no data messes up the tool 2) with 10-15 or so teams in the end the tool won't be able to match 10 balanced teams. It will balance things out 10 people at a time... so 2 teams it pulls may both be > then 2 other teams that it pulls.

Last event like it naz had everyone pop there own name into a google doc... and then we marked off classes and he did a quick random numbering by class.

I don't know exactly how he plans to do it this time... I'm sure any good ideas that come up he can use still.

I love the hilbert tool I just think it won't work better then just hand balancing when you start dealing with more then 2 teams and hopefully more then a few people that don't pvp often sign up, which would mean there data on the leaderboard would be lite. :)

Then there also the question of people with multiple characters.

    For example

Are you counting me on my Sci Sci, Tac scort, Sci scort, or Engie Healer?

All are PvP ready but would count differently towards a team.

And I might have to back out as its my father's bday dinner that evening...will keep you updated.

Its up to the team how they set up once they are grouped together. Part of the fun

People not having any data is a problem. But balancing more than 10 players at a time is possible. Naz ran this kind of tournament before and for this occasion I wrote a stand-alone version of the balancing tool that one could use to balance a bunch of players into several teams. Eventually it ended up not being used for that tournament, but the technology exists.

    I stand corrected then. :)

I think it would end up being the data being the main issue in this case. Also I get the feeling naz wants to ensure every team as at least one person who is capable of calling the match.

The tool could work though if we have enough data on the toon in play.

The tool allows one to tag players as "team leaders" and then the algorithm makes sure that every team gets at least one of these special players.

So I'm guessing multiple matches will be going on at the same time? Since the groups are random and people are allowed to choose a character after meeting the team can we have like fifteen minutes to prep, find each other on teamspeak and make sure we do things like following the class numbers rule?

Yes, there will be simultaneous matches going on.

If you want, you could be tac one match and a sci the next. You wont be locked into your class as long as the team follows the overarching rules.
