Invisible Wall Problems

theatrrap2theatrrap2 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I am having trouble with the invisible walls I am trying to use as a shield boundary. It is setup so that after you have setup shield emitters you activate the shield. After you have done this, several Borg ships arrive but cannot attack you because of the shield. After flying around for a bit, these Borg can start to shoot you, and sometimes even warp jump inside of the "shield". I started a new map to make a simpler test section and just placed four overlapping walls to make a box and put two Borg groups in it. As I approached, both ships (one at a time) warp jumped out of the box and behind me...What is going on?

sounds like the 0/0/0 bug. Try moving your assembly so that it's not built around the 0/0/0 point. alternatively, it could be an issue with the height of the invisiwalls. IIRC, the default height you place them at has the bottom of the wall at the level you placed it at.

I agree with Mark. If you want to really test is, try doing a test publish. Also realize that invisible walls only extend so far vertically, and because they were originally designed for ground, their origin point (the point you set the position by relative to the model itself) tends to be near the bottom. This means the enemies only need to go down a meter or two go under the wall. You will need to duplicate the walls vertically as well as horizontally. I want to say the Tall version of the walls are something like 30 meters, but it's been a while since I tested that.

To be honest, I have trouble with mobs going through invisible walls (and forcefield) on ground to. It's an old problem on my mission I had when it was first published and is back.
The walls are fine (100ft tall, and they can't go under or above), no gap or whatever, but they just teleport on the other side. The bug where we can't see broken forcefield on the map (the one you use to place asset) since LoR is not helping.

So far, I had to withdraw the mission while I'm trying to fix it. Using duct tape, as always.

does that problem persist after publish? I know the 0/0/0 bug happens on ground too.

This problem happen ONLY when published. Strangely, it works fine when the mission is not published.
