Making a request to change the Dilithium currency standard of Fleet projects to Gold Pressed Latnium!
Dil represents a characters earnings in Real Life Monies as it is an exchange currency. It is also the most commoditized currecy in game. It is used for litterally everything in game!
GPL is the Most common referenced Trek currency aside from credits and is rendered useless in game. I would like to see a change made at least for Fleet projects that utilize GPL over that of Dil.
GPL would offer the same ammount of player involvement in game and in the fleet as Dil. From an RP point of view, GPL represents the "businessmen" contracted to complete these tasks. This would significantly increase the value and merit of GPL being in game and this would reserve Dil for the characters uses outside the fleet.
Dil does not need to be removed entirely from Fleet projects as it would still be worthy endevours to produce it for needs beyond oneself, but significant reductions can be implemented for the need of Dil and the more likely currency of fleet projects, GPL, can make up the bulk "costs" of any project elswere.

no...oh gods no
sorry but in theory its a great idea, but would dropkick the dil exchange rates to unnaceptble heights
That sounds like a really bad idea no offence. I don't know about you but most people in my fleet don't have to to site there for hours and play Dabo to earn what would most likely be in the hundreds of millions of GPL that it would take to do a project if they did that if not more for some things. I mean some projects now take what 200k of dilith for some things think how much money Cryptic would lose if GPL was used not to mention they would bump it up alot since its a free resorce that no one pays for other in time and boardom.
Not saying I agree with the idea of replacing the dilithium requirement for fleet upgrades and projects, but maybe slotting it in here and there in various projects and lowering the amount of commodities required would be a nice idea, for diversitys sake.
"If this will be our end, then I will have them make SUCH an end as to be worthy of rememberance! Out of torpedos you say?! Find me the ferengi!".

I wouldnt see this as increasing the cost to millions of gpl as it is similarly to dilithium ore. So you would only need to compensate for refinement.
Latinum allows for in-game gambling in a way that avoid legal issues in locales around the world. It's a massive legal grey area that Cryptic has worked hard to avoid.
For example, if real gambling was allowed (in game currency, purchasable with money), the game would be illegal in Canada, and most of the contiguous US. While online gambling exists, for most jurisdictions it requires licensing and age gates.
So no, latinum will never be used in more than a color element for quarks or a few doff missions.

Wrong, gpl is the currency earned from playing dabo. Since gpl is an in game currency played with in game currencies it is not technically gambling. If as you say real money was to be exchanged to play the in game gambling game with possible rl payouts, then we would need to address the gambling aspect of it.
However, you cannot "buy" gpl with rl money and using it for other in game items is not a gambling issue. The one thing gpl can not be used for in game is to purchase refined dil as that wiuld create the issue you address here.
Trying to remember the last time the Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulans placed any emphasis on Latinum. Especially over Dilithium, a resource in canon used as part of a starship's power system

Right dil is a resource for power system
system not as currency. GPL is referenced in one of the most recent variations of of trek DS9, as a galactic currency used by most non federation traders that visited DS9.
Not a good idea. I am not sitting in front of a Dabo table for hours on end just so that I can contribute 86,000 GPL...Dilithium is just fine but with the new R&D sinks they could lower the fleet Dil requirements a little.

this would be very bad as has been stated in many reply's however I would like to see more uses for GPL.
theres just not anything really good that you can buy with the stuff.
even ec is more useful then GPL, in fact if you look at what you can buy with all the other currency's in the game GPL is the most useless stuff you can have and that's ironic as its about the only currency that ever got a regular mention in star trek.
even if you could exchange it with a ferengi vender for ec it would be good enough.
as it stands at the moment GPL is as good useless unless you want to spend your whole time playing dabo.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.

the dilitium exchange is a farce... its made up and manipulated. there is no supply and demand at work.
Instead of 1:1, they should pay 3:1 in fleet credits.
Still less than fleet marks, but much more lucrative without the inflated EC costs of DoFFs or other common requirements.

It depends on what they can add to the dil required items.
Rep projects items
Fleet gear
Fleet projects
R&D projects
Upgrade system
system
Doff missions
These are what i can think of off the top of my head. If they added new projects with dil requirements then it should keep the dil market stable.
