Sorry I tried searching and really could not find what I was looking for or it was rather old (2 years).
If I have abeam boat with elite phasers, would I want to stack all phaser damage or beam weapon damage consoles? How dose those stack and is it worth it to stack 2? 4?
You want the Phaser damage consoles instead of the generic 'beam' damage consoles because you get more damage from a specific energy type console than from a generic console.
In general terms, they stack on the base damage of a "reference" beam array (I think it's a Mk X Common beam), so if you've got a reference beam array that does 100 damage, and a console that adds 25% damage, then your own beam array will have 25 damage added (+25% of 100 base damage on the game's reference array). If you add a second console, your array will add another 25 damage for a total of +50 damage (25% of 100 base damage again). 3 would be 75, 4 would be 100, etc.. (Note that I'm fudging the numbers a bit for simplicity.) And then after all of that, other stuff comes into play like your power levels and skills and gear.
Yes it's worth stacking up to 5 of them if you're not sacrificing some other important console that you might want for a set bonus.
Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.
