Advice for Fleet Dred hangar

So I'm getting a Fleet Dreadnaught equipped up, but I'm unsure what to use for its hangar slot. Basically, I'd like opinions whether it'd be better to have either elite fighters (peregrine or scorpion) or elite runabouts? Or more plainly, would it be better to have fighters that do more damage or hamper enemy movement?

The scorpions tend to get killed to easily. Not to mention they seem to be suicidal when it comes to core breaches. I've currently got yellow stones on mine. And I'm reasonably happy with those. Only draw back I've found is that I've had reports that the tetryon warp plasma they eject has stalled out the engines on my team mates ships. So I'm not sure if this is intentional, bad luck/timing or a bug.
Oh, it's not broken? We can soon fix that!

I prefer scorpions for STFs(higher DPS) but had good fun w/Tholian fighters also(Tetryon procs). They both have fast recharge so losing a few doesn't rly matter much. It nvr hurts to have multiple type for various missions.

I like runabouts in some form just for the general durability and for the utility of the tractor beams. It doesn't specialize well but its a well-rounded solution, and looks faction-appropriate to boot.

If you're one of those people who swaps pets based on the mission, the big3 are Swarmers, Scorpions, and Widows. Swarmers can do nasty spike with a swarm of beam overloads, but die if you breathe too hard on them (they recharge fast though). Scorpions, those high-yield torps absolutely demolish unshielded structures but can't keep up with a fast-paced fight and are extra useless against targets with AOE spam (shoots down the torps). And Widows give you bonus FAW spam, giving you a dispersed but constant source of extra DPS.

I would suggest having Elite Fighters and Elite Runabouts. I have both for the HEC and Fighter craft tend to be a bit situational.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.
If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why.
When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

Honesty this is what I was thinking too to be honest, since I can imagine situations where having the tractor beam equipped runabouts would be nice (probe defense during Khitomer Vortex for example) and situations where having extra dps from fighters would be nice (Crystalline Entity, The Breach, etc.). It's just that, even subbing Scorpions for Peregrines so I don't need fleet creds for both, the combined Dil costs are just really off putting, and even getting just the runabouts costs 100,000 fleet creds.

Guess I'll have to see about getting some zen to buy dil and pumping a chunk of it towards fleet creds.

Get Elite Runabouts first, work your way up to Elite Scorpions.

Elite Yellowstone Runabouts are craaaaaaaaaazy for crowd controlling, leaving trails of EWP, tractor beams and chroniton torpedoes all around the map.

Elite Swarmers, probably the best damage dealing non-lockbox carrier pets around.

    Otherwise go for the yellowstones.

The ones bought from the spire aren't.
