You mean the rule will be 5 tacs in sci ships that can also nuke.

Why would you want 5 scis when you can alpha boost your parti gen damage from a sci ship and also nuke without giving anything up?

geko's game design....why have a ship for each class when you can heal, debuff and do damage from the same ship.Kirk design for kirks.Teamwork is not needed.Even pve stuffs are made for singleplayer.First singleplayer mmo .

+1, oh and just in case exotic damage wasn't already high enough, go check out the trait on the T6 scintel ship.

+1, but this one comes from so many whiny people wanting to do X in a ship built for Y, like all this player-made "tac-cruiser should be equal to tac-escort" nonsense. The trinity has been dead for a while, I should probably stop holding out hope for it ever being fixed now that we have this intel TRIBBLE filtering in as well.

Also still waiting to see if that thread for BOff abilities was actually worth anyone's time, because as of now they haven't fixed any Eng BOff abilities, but are quick to tell us all about these magical intel abilities.

that trinity is like it is because the game designer is anything but a game designer and because pve players need only 1 thing to kill npcs...thus they turned all ships to fit that role.

The singleplayer PvE (check all last Featured episodes) are like that because cryptic has no clue that the O from STO is from Online ...thats on internet .Playing with other people is "not" normal in their vision.

Except AoE nuke. That was just made to f**k pvpers and for the lulz.

P.D. This new vulnerability TRIBBLE and strip all of he engi/sci/tac buff from an opponent. So it seems like cryptic's response was "oh, you don't like AoE subnuke, well here have another kind of subnuke then."

People need to relax a little bit.

There are a few concerning things... but nothing honestly game breaking that I see.

    - Everything having a cloak... this is concerning and may or may not continue with all T6. If everyone is cloaked it does present some issues with pvp. (its not dead though old KDF vs KDF pvps where some of the best)

    - Ship creeping in the future, at the very bottom of the ship spec post is the "Fleet ships to follow" comment. So yes T5U is 100% a dead end. Having said that T6 Fleet vs T5 Fleet U isn't all that bad in SOME cases. Many of the old lockboxes are still going to be around vs Ts Fleets. New Intel ships don't have sensor ann for one

-AOE nuke is NOT as good as people think it is. Its limited in its buff strip... it starts at long duration which are often gear or trait buffs... looking at the specs it also REQUIRES you to give up your normal commander station. Meaning no Escort will have AOE sub nuke and OMEGA 3.... no sci ships is going to have TBR 3 / AOE nuke... No cruiser is going to have DEM 3 or SIF 3 or RSP 3 + AOE nuke.

    - The low level Intel station is a LT... meaning they may have room for an Intel team... + the standard heals everyone runs now like Hazards 2... or dmg buffs like Spread 2 ect. However if they want to run a LT Intel skill they are going to have to drop a heal to ENSIGN level... making them a bit more squishy.

I think when it all shakes out we will see a T6 invasion in PvP for the first few weeks. (same as we see new ships pop up in pvp a lot at first every new ship release). However after the first few weeks people will start running there older and in many ways better lockbox T5Us more.

I don't think Our current ships are gone... until AFTER T6 Fleet happens. At that point (8-9 months from now) We are all likely going to be in T6 + NEW lockbox options... with the odd old T5U ship like the wells / tholian carrier ect being viable and still around. Lets face it the faction ships are mostly already not viable for serious pvp... nothing there is going to change unless we get a new class of T6 (that are NOT intelligence class, but may have 1 INTEL dual seat or something with out the gimmicks) as in Warship voyager T6 ect.

My concern is the amount of subnucing that can now happen.

Sure they might have their own Set of longer cooldowns..

But think of it in a Team play fashion..

Especially if you add in a 5 man Sci team.

I'm hoping the things they deploy for those subnuc "options" are actually pets that can be shot down. Then it won't make those scary at all.. and T6 Ships will mostly just be new Cloaking ships to worry about with a new Boff power possibility.

The sub nuke isn't as powerful as people are worried about web. The number of buffs stripped is limited. It starts at longest duration first. Pretty much between fleet shield procs and different buff effects from consoles and such now... the chance of even 2 or 3 of these stacked completely stripping someone is low.

I know we need to test it to confirm it... really though on paper this doesn't seem all that much more powerful the the now bad sub nuke doffs.

Also you have to consider the COST of running this. It isn't free... its a Commander level intl skill.. looking at the ship stats it means to run it... you have to NOT run another commander skill. That makes it a no go for an escort... it makes it questionable for cruisers and sci ships as well. You have to trade a pretty high amount to run it.

The real interesting Intel skills are going to be the LT slot... as at LT I can see viable ways to run 2 of LT skills. LT cmd ? its also a pretty darn heavy trade. On an escort it means lowering a Rapid fire or Overload a level in trade... on a sci ship it means dropping something like GW or EWP completely... on a cruiser you are gong to have to trade some serious healing, or even DMG potential to run one.

As i see it the Intel ships are going ot be very specialized... and the skills I have seen so far are just not enough of a benifit to a team to make them worth it.

I bet a lot of people will get T6 ships... and fly them with little to no Intel skills even slotted. They may be interesting more for the probe skills stuff.

    Uhm......

    Expose Vulnerability: Defense

Your sensor probe discovers a critical weakness in the target's hull and shield systems. This devastating expose effect drastically reduces the target's damage resistance and shield hardness, causing the target to suffer significantly more damage while under this effect. In addition, Expose Vulnerability: Defenses also clears all Engineering buffs on the target.

    Expose Vulnerability: Weapon Systems

Your sensor probe unveils a critical weakness in the target's weapons and targeting systems. This crippling effect will significantly reduce the target's accuracy and damage for a short time. In addition, Expose Vulnerability: Weapon Systems also clears all Tactical buffs on the target.

    Expose Vulnerability: Critical Systems

Your sensor probe discovers a major flaw in the target's critical systems. This expose effect will apply a Hold effect on the target rendering them helpless for a short period of time. In addition, Expose Vulnerability: Critical Systems will clear all Science buffs on the target.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing there man...

Yes I'm reading the same stuff.... I just don't think these gimicks are going to work near as well as people are worried about.

They will be powerful but they are hardly going to replace completely our current ships (that are used in pvp).

Sure if your in a faction ship yous shouldn't be really. Really at this point not many people are still trying to Pvp in faction ships... Cryptic killed that notion long ago imo.

Having said that there are a small handful of faction ships... (mostly newer zen store ones) that may well do fine still.

You don't find things like Sensor Ann on the T6 sci ship... and I don't see 5th Forward Weapons on the T6 escorts... the Cruisers have only 2 cruiser commands and there both DMG, No shield or hull buffing from the cruiser. Carriers are still a T5U thing... (carrier pets are also a good way to protect a team vs AOE nuke skills) .

I am not saying there is nothing here with the potential to be screwed up... I am just saying the more stuff I am seeing on paper... the more I am thinking these things really are going to just be flavor. They will be good ships... but there not going to be the only option for viable ship.

I'm pretty sure the t6 raptor will have 5 forward weapons, but it isn't on the list of inel ships sooooo it won't be able to field an intel doff. My info coming from Geko at the STLV pod cast where he said there will be a new KDF raptor that will compete with the Kumari set. As always, we'll have to wait till the next dev blog for more info.

As for the aoe subnuke...It's going to be stripping off [adapt] buffs which will instantly return just like the subnuke doff does now.

i think our devs are from an alternate universe or something, were pvp is overwhelmingly popular and all balance and additions are primarily useful there, and pve is recognized as not important to optimize skill for. cause thats sort of how they do thing with skill creations.

i guess we are lucky for that, but really pvp doesn't exactly improve when new elements are added to it, especially with how saturated it is with post launch content.

the subnuk thing, totally useless in pve. transport torpedo, about as useless as BO in pve, but potentially be a big deal kill switch in pvp, transporting a tric torp is gonna be a joke.

cant remember what any other skills were, probably also mostly pvp optimized.

its just so schizophrenic, why are the system guys so hell bent on the pvp optimized stuff, wile content wont touch the concept of pvp with a lightyear long pole?

So yes T5U is 100% a dead end.

So, why we should relax? Maybe you are not a Star Trek fan, but when you stay in a game beacose is Star Trek and you do PVP beacose is PVP in a Star Trek game but you are forced out your Star Trek ship to use a ugly random ship, peaple tend to get nervus and is understandable.

    Well T5U isn't dead yet.

If T6 was to never exist your ships are all still dead ends. At somepoint there will be a refit or a refit refit or a fleet refit or a fleet refit super bonus pack version. (if you really want to get upset get annoyued that in the spec post for T6 they have said flat out they will be obsolete as well in 6 months when Fleet T6 hits lol)

Its been the same for 4+ years now. Every 3-6 months a wave of new ships come that are better then the old ones. The old ones are fine for awhile... until the next wave comes.

Most ships are fine for 2-3 cycles of ships... then they become dated beyond usability. However likely you are a fan of one of the ships from the newst 2-3 waves so you have already swapped.

You may not like this first wave of Intel ships... but guess what there will be a T6 Voyager at some point... and likely Defiant, and perhaps even a new cruiser that looks very much like one you do love.

All the while there will be new lockboxes ect.

Really think back to what people flew 2 years ago... any rom ships ? nope.... Any xindi or hunters or Vestas ? (can't remember when the vesta first hit honestly.

In 1.5 years no one will be in a T5U ship. Of if they are it will be after a second upgrade to T5U+. Or they will be flying a new Tier 6 Delta Fleet version of it.

Ship creep is nothing new... this first wave of new ones are odd looking... but the standard non intel T6 ships are likely to be classics.

T5U will be viable and even the standard for the next 6months to a year... after that fleet T6 and perhaps some form of T5u+ will take over. (not counting all the people that will have switched to T6 Delta lockbox ships)

Most of the iconic ships were not the best, we trekkies know that, it was a strugle to use the Nebula with so many other good ships, but was still posible. Same goes with defiant, galaxy-x, Sove, Excelsior, Vorcha, BoP, Valdore and some other iconic ships.. but now even with all the effort is going to be imposible.

Now, you tell us to calm dawn, that some day in the far future we may have our iconic Star Trek ships back so we can buy them again? Well.. no thanks..

You can upgrade most all of them to T5U which will be the standard for the next 6months-a year at witch point the new T6 versions of them will be around. Ya its been this way for 4 years.

No, not at this extend.. one thing is that some ships have more turn rate or better Boff config.. now they have that and even more. So dont tell me that is the same. No when even the best actual T5 ships are going to be a bad joke againts a ship that is going to spam subnuke and have not just better, but MORE Boffs sets (and not just an ensine)!

Do they have even more ?

Are you looking at the same specs I am.

They have a new gimmick sure.

They do get one more boff seat I agree with you there. That is why there T6 and not called T5.9999.

However the new intel skills come at the cost of not running current ones. You want to run a commander Intel skill you have to NOT run a standard commander skill... if you want to slot a Lt Cmd or LT intel skill you have to downgrade either normal Dmg or Heal skills to do it. (so it has a cost).

There is also a cost attached to the gimmicks.

Here are the main costs (I have no opinion yet as to this being enough of a cost or not)

Escort - Lacks the Bonus +10 defense that all current escorts have.
Cruiser - Lacks all Healing related Cruiser commands.
Science Ship - Lacks Sensor Ann

The rom version I am not seeing the down side right now... I will say it looks on paper like it completely outdates the varo. (If your not running the varo D torp console it doesn't seem like there is any reason to still fly a T'varo) Unless I missed something.

Ok.. sure.. Fleet T6 ships are perefectly balance.. not gona discuss with you, I know it leads no where..

    Just gona queue your self:
So yes T5U is 100% a dead end.

Have a good day and enjoy your new T6 ships.. wait.. thouse are also already TRIBBLE (and they not even debut yet, lol).. better said, enjoy your Fleet T6 ships.. that are probably be useless TRIBBLE in 4 months.

    Thanks for quoting me. :)

Yes T5U is a dead end. T6 is a dead end.... At some point T6 Fleet will be a dead end.

Then we will have T6.5 Cstore...

Then we will have T6.5 Cstore Fleet.

Then we will have T6.5 Cstore Refit of da Fleet.

Then we will have .... T7

Assuming the game is in fact online that long.

For the record nothing is perfectly balanced. The specs I have seen to day though tell me they won't be the only option... as I did fear a bit before seeing the specs.

They are good ships but hardly replace all our current ships upgraded to T5U. The only ship I see being completely replaced is the T'Varo at this point. (all though that D torp is pretty awsome in PvE... for PvP though ya New Rom intel ships seems to be the better option.)
