When I read your thread I expected some really heavy bashing of STO, then I clicked the link, read the article.....and saw nothing of the sort. It's just.....an useless article. You're blowing this waaay out of proportion.
And sure, I'll write to the editor-in-chief just as soon as I finish writing this formal letter demanding a official apology from the Greek basketball coach for his team's unacceptable defeat against Serbia in the World Basketball Championship.
To be honest, I am surprised that anyone still buys PC Gamer anymore. I actually thought they were dead and gone by now. I read a couple of them a while back where they "reported" on games, and found it full of personal opinions, and not the facts about the games. Then, after playing the game, realized they knew nothing about what they write.
If the publisher doesn't care enough about the quality of the work they print, I don't care about it enough to read it.
Seriously though, I thought they were dead and gone.
Agreed, I used to have at least a passing interest, but now it seems like they pay interns to write their stuff. Honestly this piece is what I've come to expect from them in terms of informative content. the worst part is they don't seem to care about the lack of information in their articles.

The thing about interns is, they're unpaid. They're just there to get something on a resume.
Which probably explains why everything from PC Gamer reads as if it were being written by interns - sure cuts down on the ol' overhead if there's no payroll...
I wouldn't let it bother you, if you enjoy the game that should be enough for you! If it doesn't tickle you, there is a good chance you aren't playing it anyways.
I think you should get two points of view from articles, one by someone who doesn't like it and one who does. That way you can weigh evenly the pros and cons when shopping for a new game.

This is, actually, occasionally done. I do recall a time when it was almost always done. Heck, I recall GamePro would provide like five or six(?) different opinions on games. Anyone know if that rag's still around or does that still anymore?

That is quite literally all I have to say about this. It's hardly a great (or terrible) game to be fair.
