Research Tech Upgrade

After one of the new missions, I received an expert research tech upgrade. However, I can't find a way to use the kit to upgrade any of my items.

    Two ideas come to mind.

    Your crafting is not of appropriate level thus you can't upgrade

    Part of the patch that uses these items haven't been turned on/added yet

    Hard to say, but probably the latter....I actually Crafted a bunch of Medium Tech Upgrades at level 10 (they were cheap) but have not found a way to upgrade an existing item yet.

    It is most likely the later of the 2, but I do know that there is a typo in the description of the items.

    It says
    When you complete enough research, you will upgrade your item ot the next higher Mark.

    Instead of
    When you complete enough research, you will upgrade your item to the next higher mark.

    Though the sentence itself sounds incorrect.

    I would figure it should read more like
    When you complete enough research, you will upgrade your item to
    it's next mark
    a higher mark

    I think it is probably a feature that isn't installed yet. Since I can create other research tech upgrades. It doesn't make sense to able to make an item and not use it. Also tried getting an item that it is of the lowest rank that should be able to be upgraded.

    Looks like ship-upgrade will have nothing to do with R&D (crafting), but to upgrade all of your other stuff you need R&D

    Their is an upgrade button on the left side of the Inventory window
