I'm trying to get an idea as to what ship bundle I should get from the C-Store. I have the Odyssey pack, Avenger, Regent, Armitage and the Steam bundle. Zen isn't an issue - but my ability to get bored with a ship is.
I tend to get bored with ships quite quickly and was looking for a pack that would afford me some flexibility in builds - across all captain types. I currently have Tac and Eng captains at 50 and am leveling a Sci now - All Fed/RomFed. I have a ton of respec tokens available so I have no issue with respeccing my captains.
I'm looking for something that would be a good investment and is fun to fly on all captain types. I've a few mil in fleet credit to help with respecs and have no problem grinding rep to get the items I need if the fleet cred won't get it. All of my captains have plasmonic leech and access to the assimilated console and cutting beam.
I would appreciate it if you could provide some insight into the above named ship packs - or others - as well as possible skill builds that will keep the game fun for me.

Vesta pack is a really nice pack for tacs and scis aliike, idk about engineers though. Science builds are so much fun, and a for a science toon, go vesta or go home imo

Flew a Vesta on my Engineer. The Vesta's one weakness is that it has one of the lighter hulls for a ship of its tier. This is partially offset by having a self-centred AoE heal that affects your own ship, as well as (if you have all 3 consoles equipped) an invulnerability bubble. An Engineer captain can make it so the ship is pretty much not going to die unless all the damage is done before you can hit a single button.
The Vesta is a good all-around ship. My favourite science ship in the game.
The Dyson, I feel, immediately pigeonholes itself into the Protonic Arsenal weapon set, while being an excellent set, means you might end up a bit bored with it, even though it is quite effective. There's also significantly less ways of making this ship look presentable.
I appreciate both of your responses. From what you're both saying it appears that the Vesta pack may be the way to go. Could you, possibly, give me some ideas as to skill builds for the Vestas?
Vesta pack is my best buy from the c-store dyson is a massive fail dont waste zen on it.
Ive used my vesta since the 2nd day it came out n im still having a lot of fun with it i use the aux cannons n have maxed my aux out. Most sci powers get a boost from aux e,g hazard emitters heal more, grav wells do more dmg.
Im playing a command n control role at the moment n get 7 n half k dps in ISE.

I think the Vesta pack is a good choice, too. I bought the Romulan Dyson, and it is a nice ship, but yes, one kinda feels pigeonholed in the whole Proton/Polaron builds. Also, the Vesta equipped with Aux Phasers can run a full Aux build, while in a Dyson ship you'll either sacrifice firepower or science power strength.
The Vesta I currently uses the following BO layout
Tactical Team I x 2, Torpedo Spread II
Science Team I, Transfer Shield Strength I and II, Hazard Emitters II and III
Emergency Power to Shields I and II
Tractor Beam Repulsors and Gravity Well
Front Weapon: 3 x Aux Phasers
Aft: Dyson Proton Beam, Omnidirectional Anti-Proton Array, Gravimetric Torpedo
The Proton Array is mostly to buff the Torpedo further, and I use the "torpedo spread farting" tactic in combat - e.g. frontal assault with Aux Phasers, launch a Gravity Well, then turn 180 ° for a volley of torpedo spread. The Grav Torp can spawn mini-rifts which are extra effective when they spawn upon each other on a tight group of foes.
The Vesta may have slightly less hull than other science vessels, but you shouldn't face any actual problems due to it, and you more than make up for it with perks like carrier pets, Aux weapons and consoles. The Vesta has no actual drawback compared to other Science Vessels.
With the right DOFFs, the build can also easily be further optimized. Damage Control Engineers can allow you to run with only one EPtS, adding either an EPtA or maybe even an Aux2SIF to the build could also help. Aftershock Doffs make Gravity Well nastier. Deflector Doffs can lower your cooldowns with your science abilities.
And of course, if you want to experience a different play style, replace Gravity Well and Tractor Beam Repulsors with another Science Offensive Power, and then go from there.
It's just that I find Gravity Well and Tractor Beam Repulsors really, really effective for most PvE, including the queued event stuff.
In Crystalline Entity, GW and TR will help you control the shards. In Infected, you can keep Nanite Spheres at bay. And so on. I doubt there is content in this game where getting the enemy away from positions or clumping him together isn't a neat science perk. (And if you were here for pure damage, you'd fly an Escort or maybe one of those Aux2Bat FAW boats)
Star Trek Online Advancement: You start with lowbie gear, you end with Lobi gear.
Have any unopened reward packs (Risian ships, Breen ships) to tide you over till then? Or hit the exchange for one of the weirder mirror ships and play with that.
I bought it just before all the T6 stuff was announced and when it was I thought I'd wasted my money. As I've spent more time playing and enjoying it though, I'm now minded to just upgrade it and not bother with T6, at least in the first instance.
The individual consoles are all useful in their own way and the set bonuses are decent as wel, particularly the "Get Out Of Jail Free" card that is the Quantum Shield bubble....oh, and you get a hangar too, so there's that ability to add into the mix.
Yes the hull is a little weaker than perhaps you might like, but that's easily enough remedied to a point where it's not going to be a glaring issue.
My engineer flies a Vesta and it is very good. Have you thought of the Kumari Pack? The 3 piece set up gives some interesting powers and the ship is very sporty. I use the Charal variant on my Andorian Tac. A Kumari variant may not be the "best" for an engi but it will be interesting

I pretty much always start off with the Reconnaissance variant of the Vesta class. The extra Tactical console trumps, IMO, either of the other kind, and there are enough Engineering and Science consoles to be adequate anyway.
I currently, on the Vesta I have in use on my Science Captain, have the following:
Fore:
1 x Gravimetric Torpedo
2 x Aux Phaser Dual Heavy Cannons
Aft:
1 x Enhanced Bio-molecular Torpedo
1 x Heavy Bio-molecular Phaser Turret
1 x Omni-Directional Phaser Array (I had enough EC on hand to buy one off the market to try out)
I do recommend having at least one beam weapon on hand (even if it's the free Omni- AP) to make use of the science class' system targetting powers. Plus, with the recent change to Beam Overload, beams are nice.
The Grav Torp is to supplement Grav Well. The Bio Torp and Turret are for bonuses (one more console to get the bonus active power Barrage).
I usually use the Lt. Com seat with a Tactical BOff to get more firepower, with the Ensign seat going to Sci. Alternatively, if you are going for a more science-y build, switch those around.
Congratulations on your choice. I own and fly both, and enjoy both ships quite a lot. You definitely can't go wrong with the Vesta, although I do think that the Dyson Destroyer is a much better ship than people seem to think. I can consistently squeeze about 13k DPS in an ISE Pug out of the Vesta, and between 12-13k out of the Dyson. In HSE that number comes down to around 8k DPS average (in a PUG) for the Dyson. I should mention that I'm a science captain and I fly very science oriented builds (my Vesta only has the Lt. tactical station).
A couple of tips: I personally wouldn't go for the 3 pack unless you want to mix and match parts for visual customization. I generally find that the console sets, though useful, are not as good as consoles that provide a constant, passive benefit to your ship (e.g. the Assimilated Module, the Zero-Point, etc.); and, of course, you should never use one of your tactical console slots for anything other than an appropriate energy damage console (with the CritH bonus if you're part of a fleet with a tier 3 Spire). Another tip if you're going with the Vesta: consider going with beams rather than cannons. Given that the ship is made of tissue paper once you get through its shields, it can be a little easier to fly in difficult situations (like HSE) if you're are able to keep your speed up by strafing the target, as opposed to keeping targets in your forward firing arc (you get a much better defensive bonus at high speed).
One final note about the Dyson ship (since I feel compelled to stand up for her) is that a lot of players assume that you need to make special accommodations for the proton cannons--you don't. I run my ship with fleet antiproton weapons (3 DHCs up front, and a turret, omni array, and cutting beam in the back). The real benefit of tactical mode isn't the extra damage from the proton cannons (although useful)--it's the increased turn rate and access to a commander tactical skill (like APO3) that make using cannons in general much easier. I'm able to consistently PUG HSE with very few deaths (sometimes none at all) and I'm generally top DPS on the team.
Anyway, that's my two cents. I've had a lot of great experience in game flying the Vesta and consider it one of my best purchases. I don't think you'll regret it.
they still have not confirmed if the packs get upgraded, or you have to do them individually.
A pack of 3 ships logically requires 3 upgrades. I know you wanted to upgrade all 3 ships with one token but that's just not going to happen.
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001. If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why. When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

Thanks for the info. Currently I'm playing around with the Tac Vesta with my Tac Captain. Have 2 Aux Cannons and the wide angle quantum up front. Currently have the Kinetic cutting beam, Omni-directioinal phaser and Breen cluster torpedo in back. Aux is usually set at 100. Have plasmonic leech and assimilated module equipped and 4 fleet phaser damage mods... and yeah... using all 3 vesta consoles atm. The rest is mix/match of different rep gear.
Currently just getting used to the ship and what it can do. At the moment I'm running it very science heavy with just the Lt spot with Tac. Can usually get 1st place with it in CCe and Infected Conduit elite - though I really have to keep my eyes open for damage spikes.
So far it seems quite fun to fly and I'm quite happy with my purchase.

save you cash and buy some Mirror Sci variants to test builds/style on.
Already purchased they Delta pack. Looking for something to keep STO interesting until its release.
