Intel playable class?

stf65stf65 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
we have a new intel ship line, a new intel boff line, new intel gear (i'm guessing kits), does that mean we're getting a new intel playable class? when we go to make a new character will we pick from tac, eng, sci, or int? that'd be interesting.

I haven't heard anything about it, but I'd go for it!

Remove player classes altogether and have captain abilities be slot-able like traits, available at the normal level progression that already exists.

Then they'd get to do things like introducing special captain abilities that can be packed into lockboxes etc.

I would think that Intel would be a specialization of the Tac class, kinda like Commando was for Soldier in Mass Effect 2.

    And EPS power transfer :)

But I mean, science captains are already screwed that way.

Sensor Scan: Fire on my Mark does the same thing without aux dependency.
Photonic Fleet: Meet all carrier pets, scorpion fighters, nimbus pirates
Scattering Field: Subspace field Modulator, Aegis Energy feedback Conductor
    SubNuke: New T6 ship trait

And BoFF abilities and stations determine your role in battle more than your 'profession' anyway. Get rid of the window dressing already, there is no trinity in this game.

it was mass effect 1 that had the specializations. sadly i wish they would have left it in the others. let you pick from the N7 multiplayer classes as specializations in 3 would have been cool.

A new playable class would be interesting. cause other MMO's add new classes every now and then.

An MMO without classes, because you know, logic doesn't matter :P

I would absolutely love playable Intel Class. If it works how the boffs do, from what i understand, they can slot both intel abilities and another class abilities, but only of ONE TYPE.

So you could say, for kit modules, use

    Sci/Sci/Intel/Sci

    but not

    Tact/Sci/Intel/Engie

To be honest, this game is lonnggg overdue for a new playable class, or even a z-store playable species.

It'd be lovely if a dev or someone could answer our curiousity and say, " We're considering it. " or " Nope. Definately Not. "

I'm willing to bet that will get kits that have intel slots.

Well, before they revealed the Intel officer details, the term they were using was "specialist" bridge officers.

It is possible they intend to roll out a whole series of "specialists" (and their corresponding ships). There is also the new post-60 skill tree like system to get details on, which I suspect will focus on your character's ability to synergize with a given new class of ship/boff.

I would very much love it if that were the case

More diverse ranges of BOFF powers is welome

I would love a new playable Class, and I think Intelligence would make for an interesting set of Kit and Captain's abilities.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

IF they do an intel class as a playable character class then they should do an AMD class.

Also If we get an Intel class with subterfuge skills

I want a Diplomat Class with placate skills

Anyone who pvps will run APA, Subnuke, RSF, EPSPT and Sci fleet.
For PvE I would swap Subnuke for SS and Sci fleet would likely stay as it's the only really useful fleet ability.

Then I could unleash evil combos like EPtW1, EPSPT3, TT1 (doffed), APB2, FAW2, APA3, SS3, DEM3 and watch any enemy of my choosing melt before me.

Intel probably won't be a full Captain Class. I'd guess that it will appear as abilities the new specialization tree.

Only because guns make MacGyver sad. He is still perfectly fine with blowing up buildings using a latex glove.

    It also isn't AoE.

Actually, these are above-and-beyond. Their value is actually quite high especially with the recharge trait. They add up to significant damage, occasionally support or heal, and attract some attention as well. I have them out WITH my scorpions.
Scattering Field: Subspace field Modulator, Aegis Energy feedback Conductor
This is true, although the same can be said for most stats and traits.
    SubNuke: New T6 ship trait
Different actually. AoE but significantly lower debuff capabilities. It strips less and is far less reliable a recharge screwer.

Your Ship and Boffs do a lot more, certainly, for how things play for you in space, but captains do bring in some excellent effects as well.

I could see them having a full, player-version Intelligence Officer class ready to go around when, say, the Cardassian faction is introduced! But for now, I think they're just BOffs.
