T6 console question

lyran2lyran2 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I realize that it's probably too early to post this question, but it couldn't hurt to ask anyway.

So with the T6 ships announced for the new expansion pack, I've got a question regarding the specialist consoles that were announced for these ships.

Specifically the Heavy Phaser Lance console for the Feds and the Heavy Plasma Lance console for the Romulans.

With many players in STO swaping out stock weapons for their damage type of choice, how will these two weapon consoles operate on a vessle that's not equiped with phasers or plasma respectively.

Hypothetical: I decide to purchase the T6 Fed Phantom Intel Escort with it's stock Heavy Phaser Lance Console. Then I decide that I'd like to swap out all of the phasers for antiproton weapons. Will this console then become useless or will it work with my AP weapons?

Just wondering.

The Heavy Phaser Lance console is a weapon that has a huge cooldown not something that affects other weapons. Only the devs know for certain, but it is likely that the specialist consoles benefit from buff energy damage consoles. Having 4 Fleet Phaser Tactical consoles will increase the damage of the Heavy Phaser console a lot, but if you go for all antiproton weapons and antiproton consoles, then the Heavy Phaser Lance console will get no benefit from the antiproton consoles.

So then the console becomes useless UNLESS it's paired with the same energy type. Hence, if you want what the Heavy Phaser Lance console can offer, you need to keep phasers on your vessel.

    correct?

It won't be *useless*, but it would certainly benefit from one energy type. It sounds just like the Lotus weapon on the vet ships.

I'm more curious about these consoles in general... do the 3 Intel consoles make a set? Can you equip them on any ship? Just Intel ships?

I'd be surprised if they not only gave the feds double the ships but also the only item set. It's possible, but not likely.

Correct me if I am wrong but aren't variant ships the only ones with console sets? 3 packs like the Scim, ship lines like the Galaxies, species ships like the Breen, etc.

I don't see why Intel ships would have set consoles, they are a new class not a grouping. There will be more too not just the 3 at release.
