Getting rid of a duty officer

I completed an assignment and got a critical result, which is now offering me an "Orion Entertainment Hologram". However, I have a full duty roster and as a result I am unable to complete the mission. Is there any way to get rid of a duty officer or two. I've had a look around and the only way to reduce the number is to turn in five into Starfleet Academy at the cost of some Dilithium, or expand the roster through the store.

Is there an alternative method to these so I'm not wasting resources I'd rather spend elsewhere? The Klingons at least can execute their crew, the Feds really need a "fire" option.

You can sell them at the exchange for EC or donate white doffs to fleet projects for fleet credits.

Put 5 or 10 in your own mail, then get rid of unwanted doffs by either selling them or grinding them down to blues, greens, or whites.

The other alternative, buy more doff slots.

Mail any unbound Doffs to yourself. You can do this at any mail console. Just open the mail console, select compose, open up your Doff roster and drag and drop. Don't forget to put your @handle and a subject line like "excess doffs, and then send.
Oil, because Matter-Antimatter reactors haven't been invented yet... Please Hurry!

What I generally do is sell white Doffs on the Exchange. As for greens and blues, I either send them to alternate toons that I have, or sell them on the Exchange. I sometimes grind them down if I have enough free "sale slots" on the Exchange and if I have the time to do so.

My "well established" toons have 300 - 400 Doff slots whereas my newer toons have 200 Doff slots. I think 300 or 400 Doff slots are optimal. However, I have been considering boosting all of them to 500 Doff slots eventually (max as far as I know). The ultimate goal is to only have purple Doffs.

I need to play some more rounds of Dabo to "win" more GPL so that I can attempt to acquire more holographic entertainers.
