After being here along time, seeing people come in with some good idea's and some with terrible ones, I would love to get a current list of peoples ideas . Sure most if not all will ever make it into STO, but hey it could be loads of fun ! I'll start .
I would have done Universal bridge console slots for both factions, ( I mean yeah Janeway was all science and stuff but she still flew a Tactical ship).
I would also have done away with the "holy-trinity" . Its a space mmo and its encounters aren't technical in that way .
Assuming that I had to restart from the beginning, then the first thing I would have done is launch with just the Federation at first and had the Klingon Empire launched when it was good and ready to be launched. PvP would also get the same treatment.
Then I would put some more effort into the Exploration system so it would be a combination of dev-created Exploration missions and Procedurally Generated Content missions and add the Foundry system to it when it comes out.
I would put in some more functionality into starship interiors so we can modify them and have a reason to go there like On-ship missions similar to Star Trek episodes like the entire episode is on the ship with absolutely no Starship battles or away teams.
Finally, I would introduce more non-combat content and introduce peaceful methods to resolving problems instead of through violence. This is a game based on Star Trek not one where we need to kill everything.
Space would be like actual space, accounting for proper movement and physics, most especially allowing for the use of the Z-Axis. I'd also slow down the pacing so it's not zip around and spamming powers. Something more like Nexus The Jupiter Incident (and the awesome Sacrifice of Angels skirmish mod).
Ground would be like Elite Force or Mass Effect/R6 Vegas.
Almost every month one of these threads pops up, and it always goes into insulting Cryptic or it's team so I'm just nailing this before it goes further.
