In the video Thissler attacks an enemy ship while healing an ally. I never knew such an ability existed. How is this done?

Ummm assign a key to each team mate, once you engage an enemy. than throw heal to an ally, it doesn't mean you will stop firing on your previous target.

Go into options and select 'assist target on attack', IIRC. Basically if you have an ally targeted it will have you attack that ally's target, but all your buffs will target that ally.
Select auto target on attack: Off
Auto attack: Toggle, never cancels
Heh, I can never run it like that - I'm always too slow switching back to myself. I usually just do the quick flip and back to a teammate knowing that the cycle will continue to fire on the target while I'm flipping back and forth. thissler's got mad skills compared to me though...
