One of the reasons some are upset over the not quite full upgrade to T5 ships is because of the monumental task of leveling up a starbase .
Those players who are still building their starbases now find themselves at a point in time where they are building something that is guaranteed to produce inferior products -- inferior to full T6 ships & weapons , not to mention future T6 Lockbox ships .
Thus my question : are starbases now obsolite and not worth the effort .... , unless you are willing to grind on knowing that your T5 item will be somewhat sub par -- but to you it's worth it because you want that iconic ship no matter what. ?
Please note that this question is not for those who (like myself) have finished their Starbase long time ago -- I'm rather curious to hear from folks who are still building their Starbase.
Although my fleet died a few updates ago, I still log in to work the KDF starbase by myself. Maybe it's my OCD, but mostly its to put a stick in the eye of Cryptic who hates small fleets. I do alright by myself and got the mine fully upgraded, nearly done with the embassy and have the starbase itself at level 3. But my focus now is just on the parts of the holdings that are "obsolescence-proof" like extra doff slots or access to very rare doffs/boffs.
Though I wouldn't hold it past Cryptic to make those obsolete too.

like not every village can have most modern hospital so cant all small fleets have t5 base. you think if small village would want to construct hospital contruction workers and medical suppliers would give them 99% discount becouse they are small and they cant afot it? probably not.. so if you cant afort t5 base go to bigger fleet.
anyway why should you stop bouilding fleet base? probably in a year there will be fleet t6 ships. there will also be mk xiv gear. and im sure you will find your base very useful after dr.

I could go on about how big fleets suck the antimatter intake valve and are full of jerkwads, but I think your comment says plenty.
If Starbases via starships produced, aren't in the developers calculations, they deserve all the derision they get in result and response. MANY players have Fleet level faction starships, and upgrading them too, should be expected. (Only put as such, as no direct comment on Fleet T5 vessels, have been noted. Only presumed at this point, for moi part.)
Moreover, Fleet T6 has to be in the works somewhere in the new plans. How else are they gonna keep their cash cows going, besides 'just' lock boxes, once all the older ships in the C-Store really become obsolete husks. (Kinda feel sorry a touch, for all the stuck T4 ship players out there, in a way. What more, Fleet Modules 'still' are another revenue source, that I imagine will have a T6 use, past the ship cadre, being released for DR.
So... defunct C-Store ships mainly, lack of use of Fleet Modules for T6, and Starbases that really are just oversized glorification of vastly wasted amounts of collective time?
There 'has' to be a future use for them. And for new Fleet level T6. (Course they removed Exploration clusters, for zilch of replacement, so what do I know. :P )
Plus we haven't seen all the hub bub for mk XIII and XIV gear yet. Can't wait for the howls over that one. (What for all the grinds for rep gear? The future state of the Rep system there after? Oh ye know not, the spate of flung dung, to be had, as of yet. )

Well hospital construction in small regions is often subsidized by the Federal Government because there is a public interest in everyone having access to healthcare, not just hordes of people that congregate with each other. Some of them can be pretty nice too. Some.
Cryptic does allow access to fleet maps for training, equipment, and ships if the host fleet is willing to share. It's like when a Reserve unit is deployed to a major theater of operations, they are sent to a large post to get their troops equipped with mission appropriate gear. (This is based on my experience circa 2006, so if any of you old guys have horror stories about the regular Army sending you over without appropriate gear and what a subhuman piece of garbage you were for being a reservist, that sucks.)
To the OP: I'll invest in the Fleet resources that should resist obsolescence, but I doubt the shipyards and military assets will be worth the effort unless they reveal T6.5 anytime soon. (Which my fleet is laughably far from anyway. T1 Mine, here we come.)

Moreover , with the half-way upgrade that they now offer to T5 , the impetus to grind a Starbase from level 1-5 VS just buying a T6 ship makes the purchase of a T6 ship a clear no brainer .
Essentially all you have to level a Starbase for is ... what ... ship skins ???

So far from what I'm seeing they seem to treat the game as two entities : one from Lvl 1-50 and one from Lvl 50-60 .
Different rules , different progression , pretty much different everything .

Indeed; there are more benefits to advanced SB construction than just ship access, though you wouldn't know it from all the crying we see on these fora about players' disenchantment with their end-game options! Additionally, there is some satisfaction to be had in actually completing the SB grind.
TBH, as a relative STO rookie, I have a hard time envisioning the "endgame", since Cryptic/PWE continue to expand & protract the grind into infinity... Click your heels together three times, and repeat "...there's no place like home...".

T5 dead-ends well short of T6. ANY effort into T5 ships is waste. Dumping millions of dil into fleet starbases is a huge mistake that I regret having taking part in. If/when T6 fleet ships are announced calculus may change but as of this moment its a waste of resources.

No doubt it slowed to a crawl with the vendor trash normalization, but that doesn't have anything to do with Delta Rising.

These are two separate issues: T5 ships, and SB's capable of producing them. If a fleet has not finished its T5 development, then the road to T6 just got longer once it's added to the grind. And if the only reason you build a SB is for the ships, then you are playing the wrong game. I have yet to buy ANY ship, since the drop ratio for lock boxes & Lobi have been quite sufficient to get satisfactory ships short of the "endgame", and eventually, dependence upon the ship build will dull a player's combat skills... :cool:
Yeah, tell that to Fleets that been hard at work for 2 years and not even Tier 4.
No challenge, no joy... I'm the principal builder in my KDF Fleet, while our Fed fleet is finishing up T5.

To the OP why not? I'm sure you can get the first T6 Fleetships within the next few months at the Shipyard, the Fleet also offers other usefull items that are not oboslete with DR, like Active Doffslots, Doff Active Roster Slots, BO's and i am absolutely sure that Fleet equipment will be adjusted (but i am not sure how, but i assume it is not for free) to the new levels.
And with a Channel like NoP Public Service for example, that allows access to higher tiered Facilities you are not forced to do everything in a hurry.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
Unfortunately I see this as being well within the realm of possibility.

It was always in the realm of possibilities that there will be a T6, T7, T10 ships. The numbered the Tiers...that should be the first indication that other tiers were coming...because as we all know 5 is not the end of numbers.

haha that's my interpretation anyway, in small fleets everyones either friends in the game or outside the game and things are more casual. I'd much rather keep my tiny fleet where I run it as more of a social club than anything. I'll just keep my fleet and continue to laugh when I see a large fleet in zone chat saying come join us, we welcome everyone, the rules are have this installed and this, and this, and this, and sign up on this web site, and fill this jar, and turn your head and cough

You can rest assured that if they DON'T add a 'T6' level to Starbases; you will need a T5 Shipyard/Starbase for the eventual T6 'Fleet only' ship variants that I'm sure they'll release at some point in the future.

MK XIII and MK XIV information needs to be released, that will really determine Starbase futures (well short term). What with all those consoles needing upgrades or whatever.

The Ultra Rare MK12s that's equivalent to Rare Mk14s, which will be replaced in a heartbeat in DR?
Buffs that nobody really uses?
Passives to the Dyson zone that the majority hardly plays?
Discounts that a person with a Ferengi character can get and transfer using the joint account?
Access to NPCs that are just 1 transwarp away?
Transwarp Hub that's easily negated by the Mission Transwarp Button?

And, now that the OP mentions this, it could well have an impact on us small fleets without T5 bases.
A lot depends on where the T6 ships are requisitioned from.

Now I believe they have no plans for T6 Starbases, so I reckon all T6 Fleet variants will be tied to T5 Fleet Shipyard unlock.
