There are several questions you need to answer first before you get any good advise:
- what do you want your character to do? I.e. Gank, heal, classic escort, faw cruiser, vaper, torpedo boat)
- what career are you? (Tac, eng, or sci)
- what ship would you like to fly? (Cruiser, escort, science)?
Also a note, if you want to use a non-zen, non-fleet ship you are pretty much have to use a lockbox one as any of the free ones will not be extremely sucessful for pvp. They will work but you won't be able to fully compete.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]-32nd Vipers- PvP Team
Nothing is impossible to him who would try.... except getting cryptic to care about pvp.
- The most powerful and most rubbish rep-sets to go for
- General all-round most effective ship to use for (non fleet, non-zen)
I know those are broad questions, but any advice is very much welcome. Thanks!
No weapon is better than another. Not even "Elachi". If you find someone with high resists to disruptors, and maybe low resist to phasers, in that case Phasers > Elachi. And Disruptors are ResB (Disruptor, Antiproton, Plasma) on Elite Fleet shields, way more used in PvP than ResA. (Phaser, Tetryon, Polaron). It's always situational.
Sets again, there's not better or worse set at endgame, depends on what you want to do. For vaping, usually Dyson set is the best one. Undine one is good as well.
A 10 console ship, always. Scimitar, Ar'kif, T'Varo, they all make great vapers.
I'd like to be a damage-dealer in answer to the type of PvP-er question. Ideally, I want an escort, at least initially. The thought of a battle-cloaked torpedo boat, however, seems high-larious and I'd like to give that a go too.
Again, the character is a KDF-aligned Reman, tactical path.
I'll be Reman enough to own up to it...I forgot to ask for advice on traits and skills as my character levels up! with the brief being 'ultra-killy tac-guy' what would be the most effective traits and skills for my Reman to develop?
It's been a while since I've STO'd, but here I am, back again!
I want to create a character who can hack it in PvP, and I know that's a cut-throat environment.
I've created a KDF-aligned Tactical-Reman and am having a load of fun so far; it's always better being the 'bad' guys!
But if I want to be effective in PvP (Space) when I hit level 50, does anyone have any advice regarding the following:
- The most and least effective PvP weapon type(s)
- The most powerful and most rubbish rep-sets to go for
- General all-round most effective ship to use for (non fleet, non-zen)
I know those are broad questions, but any advice is very much welcome. Thanks!
The best course of action is to delete the toon and re-register as Fed. Any cloaked Reman ships will be easy prey to Feds in PvP. Since you have been away, most Fed PvPers have integrated TDF into their repertoire. Even Fed Tac now has 99 points into Starship Sensors + EPTA + TDF. Once you are discovered, you will be dead. And we are not even talking about Fed Sci who can sweep up cloaked Klinks up to 30KM away. If you want to play Reman, where more than half of the ships you can use have Battlecloaks, you will undoubtedly run into Feds with TDF and you will be easy prey, regardless of what weapons you may use.
The best thing you can do is join HOBO come to our team speak and LISTEN... You will become feared/hated by ALL fed players... It will warm your heart...
Hint hint its not so much the build but team work that is OP... Feds rarely have teamwork...

2. Always fleet res shield resb...always. As for rep...2p counter command or 2p borg.
Ships? Xindi reptilian contortrix escort, jem'hadar attack ship, or hirogen heavy escort.
Yep...those would be the answers

I could indeed be a bit more specific, so...

About ships:
vapers -> for kiddies
a2b -> for pussies
escorts -> for men
