Come on, I just need 20 more hours! My internet's been TRIBBLE all week!
Just 20! Surely you can 'forget' to turn the crystal off for just an hour or two!

and skip out of 1-2 hours blowing up in shuttles?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Yes, at least 5 empty slots. but I suspect as I learned on another thread, that the quest I was working towards was the event I started last year, not this year, so I am not sure if the Rare DOFF was part of that package. At least if this event hold true in the future, I can start this event now and work towards this reward next time. :)

There was a rare Doff as well, yes. I've completed the previous event, which I had pending, and this one. Each had a Doff as reward.

I'm sure you can, but you look at this wrong. Just look at this as a giant head start for when the event returns.

    Awww, man! Really? Maintenance? Now?

In reading the OP: "For the next three weeks, from now until Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 10AM PDT, max-level Federation, Klingon, and Romulan Republic players can queue up for our 10-captain “Crystalline Cataclysm” event to defeat the Crystalline Entity and earn some awesome rewards in the process!"

I'm thinking we had until "10AM PDT" to queue for this event. That's until 1PM EDT.

But, now there's maintenance until that time?

I need one more Shard. One.

    Ultra Lame.

EDIT: Furthermore, maintenance started early. "We will be performing shard maintenance on September 11 from 7:00-10:00 AM Pacific time (1400-1700 UTC)."

Time of this post is 06:32AM. I had already been logged off for the maintenance.

Maintenance started on PST not PDT. =Super Ultra Lame.

I feel the exact same way. I need 1 more shard, and was waiting on this. But now I gotta wait until next time? Seems really lame to me.

Arrrggh, I would have had to get up an an ungodly hour to get my last shard. Why would you have your event scheduled to end at the same time your do weekly maintenance? Please extend this an extra hour or two please!!!!

An extra 24 hours would be nice. I planned to get my last shard this morning as well, but now I have to get to work as well as attend 9/11 memorial ceremony here in NY where I am a firefighter.

I am so infuriated by this incompetent scheduling of events and maintenance. Utter BS, and on today of all days. Not trekkin cool.

Same here. Thought I could log in before 10 AM today to get that final crystal shard but the server is down, and it's only 8:25 on the west coast. Seems like a real waste of time and effort. I am totally discouraged to participate in any other events since they cut this one short

We just might get an extra hour to finish this, because maintenance should end at 9:00AM PDT. it started at 6:00AM PDT, but should have started at 7:00AM PDT.

Which would mean that servers should be up at 9:00AM PDT giving us another hour to finish until 10:00AM PDT.

    RIGHT?

EDIT: TRIBBLE this. Long story short. They started maintenance at 6:00AM PDT-9:00AM PDT (1400-1700 UTC is wrong).

They started maintenance at 1300 UTC.

EDIT: Fixed the PST vs. PDT times.
So you also need to add an hour to your calculations.
Maintenance started at 700 PDT as announced and is supposed to end at 1000 PDT, which is in half an hour.

Something is off. Might be me, might not.

We were given times to queue for this, and those times are interrupted by maintenance.

    That is all.

    OMG: I'm in game!

Its over and this is stupid. Why say that the event ends at 10am when you KNOW you're bringing servers down at 7am? I wouldn't be so upset by this if it had just been said from the get go. This is false advertising.

I'm sorry that I don't play this game everyday and/or know regular server downtimes. I went with the information I knew, which was this was till 10am. I have very little playtime and I timed this out just right so that I could complete it. Now I have to wait until this is done again, if it is.

I completed last year and this year's event on my Orion this year. No reason why they won't run it again next year.

Too bad this didn't come during the event.

This is the way it's always been with regard to Events and Scheduled Maintenance.

Events tend to end on a maintenance day at the same time, every time. Scheduled Maintenance tends to start at the same time, every time. Events are not extended because of Scheduled Maintenance. Why Cryptic chooses to schedule these things this way, I have no idea, but it's not new and most people tend to plan around this. If you were unable to plan accordingly that's not their fault.

Extensions seem to be given only when there are issues on their end during the regular Event time that would affect players from completing said Event, not because players cannot find time in their personal lives to take part in any given Event.

That being said, I do feel your "pain" though. I have a couple of Captains that were unable to complete this Event with only 1 Shard shy of completion. But you know what? It's OK. As long as you keep the project slotted, you can complete it next time the Event comes around again.

I'm sorry that you don't "play this game everyday and/or know regular server downtimes", too. But now you do, and since Cryptic is unlikely to change this policy, next time you'll be able to plan accordingly.

A good rule of thumb for any event scheduled is complete all your earnings at least 1 day prior to the deadline, then you will be happier with the outcome. If that is not possible, perhaps pursuing the objective in the first place is a bad idea. :D

Or better yet, complete them as soon as possible so that you can rake in extra rewards after completing the main objective. Why people put this stuff off until the very last minute, I'll never understand.
