Best way to get a Cloaking device

I got a fleet Defiant class ship, but I really would like to get a cloaking device, for it.

Can I buy one from a ROM character and put in my account bank and give it to the Fed captain?

Unfortunately not, the items are bound on pickup, and you need to purchase a Fed
Ship with the cloaking device already for this Fed character.

    No.

The ONLY ship that comes with a cloaking device is the Tactical Escort Retrofit for 2000 Zen. None of the other cloakable fed ships do, klingon and romulan ships have their cloak built in and don't have/need an extra console for it.

It's just too bad you got the order backwards. If you'd have bought the zen-version first you'd have gotten a discount of 3 modules on the fleet version saving you a lot of cash.

    important things to note:
Store ships are account-wide unlocks, if buy it once every other current and future fed character can claim it for free.
Fleet ships are only useable for the characters who bought them and always cost 4 Modules if you don't have the store version of it.

The Dreadnought Cruiser has the console as well. 2500 Zen.

Romulan and Klingon cloaks are part of the ship and are not consoles you could remove and transfer to another character (and if they were, the were probably either faction-locked or character-bound).

So you either buy the Tactical Escort Retrofit from the C-Store, or the Galaxy-X Dreadnought from the C-Store. Both come with a cloaking console that only these two ships and the Avenger can equip. (The Avenger does not come with its own cloaking console, but it can use one from the Defiant or Dreadnought).

I got mine by strong-arming a couple of Ferengi who jacked one from the Klingon Chancellor flagship.

If only it was so easy to buy one from any random romulan player.

If you don't want to spend 2000-2500 Zen to purchase one of the C-store ships mentioned above, then you can use Mask Energy Signature from a boff or from the Adapted Honor Guard space set.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

I got mine from the old freebie Defiant a long time ago, maybe they still give it to you via that one?

Did you happen to get that defiant with your veteran ship token? Cause the free defiant doesn't come with a cloak.

I got mine after slipping and bumping my head while standing on my toilet to hang a clock. The idea came to me in a vision after I was knocked out.

The apparatus uses one point twenty-one jigowatts and works like a charm...

Oh... were we talking about cloaking devices?

Yes, that still works, but I think you have to be a Veteran and level 50. Don't remember how many days you have to sub for that benefit.

It's only one per character, and the console is character bound, not account bound. If you want it on all of your characters, you need to buy one of the Zen ships (Defiant retrofit or Gal-X).

The console can only be installed on a Defiant retrofit (including the fleet version), a Galaxy-X, or an Avenger battlecruiser.

Yes it does, unless they changed that recently. I got it on one of my characters that way, and not that long ago.

EDIT: PS. Thread moved. Discussion of fed ships belongs in Federation Shipyards. Thanks!

The captian lvl ship? That does not have a cloak.
If you are talking about one gained with the veteran token, I would not consider that free considering you need to be a subscriber to get the token.

My bad, I'm talking about the C-Store ship you can get with the veteran token.

The free tactical escort never, ever had the cloak. I completely agree with you there.

    Sorry for any confusion.

Someone who would buy a fleet ship without the base ship is probably crazy. I don't advise crazy people, you never know how they will react to your advise, but it won't be good.

If I thought you were sane I would suggest buying the Galaxy Dreadnought. I believe it comes with a cloak. Don't think any of the lock box ships come with cloak consoles. Its a lot more expensive than the Defiant, but it is a fresh hull for people who like collecting such things.

And you can freely move the cloak console between any Gal-X, Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit, or Avenger battlecruiser on that character, if I am not mistaken.

    Good suggestion.

New people do make mistakes. Even experienced members make mistakes, as an example I bought the VR slavers only after they were nerfed.

Dreadnought or Defiant, that is the only two you can get a cloaking device from.

Only exception to that is probably the Fleet Nova which costs 4 fleet modules at 500 zen each even after purchasing the C-store Nova retrofit.

The nova retrofit isn't a c-store ship, so it doesn't qualify for the discount.

Or they're KDF. KDF get almost NO discounts for ANY ship that requires modules. The Mogh may be the only one that I can think of.

Varanus, B'rel, and Kar'fi all can get the discount.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

Fair enough. Those had slipped my mind. I could comment on the worthiness of them getting discounts and their overall usefulness being very low -- the Karfi being the only one worth the price -- but that's another discussion. The discounts exist.

I stand corrected. Still a far cry from the ships on the fed side which have worthy discounts.

The nova retrofit isn't a c-store ship, so it doesn't qualify for the discount.

Your making a very easy mistake. The C-Store Nova is not a Retrofit (upgraded to T5) but a Refit which means it's better than the normal version of the Tier and comes with a ship skin and Universal Console.

And if your upset about the Nova not getting a discount... Don't look at the Klingons, they got screwed over with so few C-Store ships and next to no discounts for Fleet ships. Also one of their best ships never even got a Fleet version.
