Lockbox Ships Free T6 Upgrade Confirmed?

This is from the new JHAS promotion:

**With the release of Star Trek Online: Delta Rising, this starship (either from this run of the promotion or from previous runs) will be upgradeable to Tier 6 starship capabilities at no cost.

Does this mean ALL lockbox ships will be upgraded for free like they were when fleet quality ships came out?

    I think lockbox ships will all get this treatment, considering how rare they are.

    I just hope that T5 ships will get upgraded to near as makes no difference T6 ships.

    We will see I guess...

    Dont think so. It says clearly that it is the bug ship the one that is being upgraded. I dont know why are you assuming all lobi ships will be upgraded.. :confused:, of course upgrading all lobi ships will be the right thing to do.. but you know.. right things are not famous in STO.

    Umm...

    We are discusing lockbox ships, not Lobi ships.

    Will said ships, Lobi and lockbox get free upgrades? Who knows. But I certainly hope so.

    Technically, the bug ship isn't a lockbox ship either. It's a DOff pack promotion ship. One of I think only 2. :P

    Of course all of our T5 ships are getting upgraded. And "right things are not famous in STO" makes no sense. They do so many things 'right' it's not funny.

    i hope lockbox ships and lobi ships get upgraded, would hate to see my recluse go bad after spending a good deal of money on it.

    Im hoping cryptic upgrades LB ships to be equal to T6 or even better, have them be equal and have T6 powers.

    Lockbox and lobi are meant to be the best ships in the game because of how hard they are to get and how much money people put in to get them.

    I for one will not buy anymore lockbox ships if my recluse and other LB ships go obsolete. Would be a stupid decision not to upgrade them to be equal or better than T6 ships. But I have a confidence that cryptic will see that and upgrade the LB ships.

    ok u know how many times i face plant my desk since stlvs X2 release with people saying lobi lockbox T5 and fleet ships won't probally get upgraded? i lost count. do u people/doom sayers have selective hearing to the point i need smack u the devs have said in the Qand A they they well be upgradeable geesh.

    Maybe you're the one that needs the smacking!? All your loudness despite, there is of yet no confirmation, whats-o-frikkin'-ever, that ANY ship will get upgraded, apart from the Bug Ship.

    As for the rest of the T5 ships, all we know is that Cryptic will offer a means to make them 'competitive.' Since you seem to be severely uncomprehending on the matter, that is NOT THE SAME as saying they'll get upgraded. The 'make' suggests we'll have to do it ourselves. How, however, and at what cost (if any) is all still totally unclear.

    In short, "people saying lobi lockbox T5 and fleet ships won't probally get upgraded" are probably right.

    Well as I see it it is just another attempt to make the JHAS the end all be all of PvP. It is truly sad that all the other ships will fall by the wayside as the feeding frenzy takes place by the millions hoping to score a lockbox lotto.

    I would much rather see a lockbox that allows you to upgrade ANY ship you have to T-6 levels...even the Connie.

    Devs that alone would sell lockboxes like you have never seen. One lockbox prize only opens one ship so there would be a one ship to one module furthermore increasing the likely hood of the masses spending real cash so they can keep up with the Jonses.

    Another lockbox idea would be the experimental console that would allow a captain to unbind a console from a certain ship and move it to what ever ship you want. Just imagine all of the different setups you would have then. Then people would be trying to score all of the old lockbox ships so they would have access to rarer consoles.

    I think many of us with lockbox ships are holding out hope, and it's reasonable that they would get a 'free' upgrade before a lobi or fleet ship.

    Lobi and fleet ships are acquired easily. It's a matter of grinding out the resource.

    There's nothing you can do to get a lockbox ship except cross your fingers and burn keys (which is what had to be done with any that are on the exchange as well).

    Yes it's possible to spend nothing and get a lockbox ship, or you could spend 150$ and never get one, there's a large disparity and vested interest in not adding additional cost to these ships.

    But that's not to say in anyway that they 'require' or 'must' get a free upgrade. Just that if anything other than the bug ship would, it's probably the 'lockbox' class.

    Nothing is definite, point to any Q&A you wish. But I refuse to believe anything will occur in an environment as fluid an dynamic as game design. I still hold out copius amounts of hope that most If not all of the T5 ships get ungraded. But let's face it, if it becomes too expensive to do for what ever reason than it will be later. Nothing you or I can do anything about it, we still are giving the deevs the benifit of the dout that they will provide upgrades. We are ebracing a wait and see attitude, the last most have seen is some thread posted durring stlv that mentioned for us to calm down and that the T5 ships would be competative.

    In the Vegas podcast he said T5 ships will be upgraded ( he said the word upgrade) to be competitive but won't get one special thing t6 ships will get.

    If you're going to rant...please have an informed rant...

    He said we would be able to upgrade/make them competitive. He most certainly did not say they would be upgraded, all by themselves. For you goes the same: offering an upgrade path, and getting an upgrade, are NOT the same thing.

    Pure speculation:

    Lockbox and Lobi ships will all be upgraded to T6, automatically and free of charge. They're not ready to announce that publicly yet because they don't want to announce anything yet, apparently. But they made an exception for the JHAS because doff pack sales were way down.

    They don't want to commit microtransaction suicide, so they will make sure lockbox ships (even old ones) are always equal to the best. Probably only lockbox and Lobi ships will get the full upgrade, but it's remotely possible the Veteran ships and maybe the 3-pack ships will, too. I doubt that, though.

    C-Store ships and Fleet ships will get some kind of upgrade mechanism. It won't be free and it won't make them actually T6. They'll get hull and shield stats similar to T6 but won't get the new boff seating. I don't know if it will cost Zen (likely) or dil (unlikely) or time (highly unlikely).

    Just have to wait and see how all of these new upgraded T6 features will be handled with existing T5 ships?

    Not quite, lockbox ships will only be purchaseable if you have already bought the set, i.e all jem'hader ships for example :

    EXCLUSIVE: As an added bonus for owners of a Jem’Hadar Attack Ship, there is a Hangar item available for use exclusively for the Jem’Hadar Dreadnought Carrier. Scaling quality levels of these items will be available for purchase from the Shipyard Store, Dilithium Store, or Fleet Store only if you have obtained the both the Jem’Hadar Attack Ship and Jem’Hadar Dreadnought Carrier.

    This means upgrading to t6 looks like it is going to be expensive (very)

    On a side note: JHAS is below 400 mill on the exchange. Now that's a sight for a sore eye lol.

    I personally think lockbox and maybe even lobi ships get a free upgrade. Why do I feel this way? Because they did when fleet ships were introduced.

    It will be free, only if you have unlocked ( i.e very large numbers of lockbox keys costing 200$) the full set of faction ships, as in the latest confirmed example with Jem'hader, to quote "only if you have obtained the both the Jem’Hadar Attack Ship and Jem’Hadar Dreadnought Carrier.".

    No. That is only to be able to buy the Jem'Hadar carrier pets. You can only purchase those if you
    have both the bug ship and dreadnaught carrier.

    Last I checked, there was only one Cardassian and Feringi ship.
