I'm standing at the Imperial Personnel Officer at the Academy and I'm not getting an option for the mission to get the DOff. I know it's a "one and done" deal so you can only ever get it once, but this is a new alt created after the last JOAW so I haven't run it before.
Is anyone else having problems with this?
Also, did they fix the Romulan version so Roms can claim the Borg DOff?
EDIT: Doh, it's Lieutenant S'stas I'm supposed to talk to, my bad. The Rom part is still relevant though.

^^ Didn't know there was a faction-specific DOff to be had!
On a side note, Cryptic apparently could not spare 10 minutes of dev time to fix the graphics bug with the Junior Officer Particle Trace chase; as it did last time, when a particle actually spawns for the secondary specific scan, the label is duplicated, and dithers on the screen to be almost unreadable. it's nearly by luck that anyone can tell which scan to use to collect the particle traces. Maybe this is related to the text dithering now seen with long mission objective lists, but 4 months should have been long enough to fix this bug in either case...

Yeah, there is apparently a separate Romulan DOff that 'could' be gotten, *IF* they'd bothered to fix the bug that keeps Romulan characters from getting it. Apparently the contact that gives the mission to claim the DOff wound up not spawning on the map. CaptainSmirk even acknowledged the blunder here. Guess they didn't have enough time to fix it.
And I know exactly the problem you're talking about with the particles. That's part of the reason I'm not bothering with the event this time around, but it's mostly that 75 particles is far too many given the obscene amounts of collapsed particles I tend to get. It took close to 3 hours last time to get 75. I went 0-43 at one point. (yes, I kept track) They should make the number needed to get the DOffs a little lower.
5 for the Common
15 for the Uncommon
30 for the Rare
50 for the Very Rare
You still need to collect more depending on how high you want to go, but it's a nice predictable increase at every level.

Just my own thoughts on the matter.

Wow, bad RNG!! I ran about 12-15 in a row before I got my first particle hit yesterday, and it seems to take "only" about 30-40 minutes to get all 75. But then, I'm not on Euro prime time, so I have somewhat less competition at the academy (GMT-7 here). Considering the inflated value on the exchange, though, that's not too long for the equivalent in EC's.
@Dev's: please fix the double-label-dithering on the particles! I've already got glasses, and I don't want to increase my myopia any further trying to read that mess hundreds of times...
