Predictions for the Next Four Enterprises

The U.S.S. Enterprise-to-ship tier pattern has been this:

Tier 1: NX and TOS Enterprises

Tier 2: Enterprise-A

Tier 3: Enterprises-B and -C

Tier 4: Enterprise-D

Tier 5: Enterprises-E and -F

Therefore...

Tier 6: Enterprise-G

Tier 7: Enterprises-H and I

Tier 8: Enterprise-J

Just spillin' my thoughts here.

    J is 26th Century, not 25th.

Well current year in STO is 2410, which is in 25th century.

Considering it took almost 4 years of RL time to advance time in STO from 2409 to 2410 and 26th centure is 90 years away we might see Enterprise-J in 360 years :p

I respect Dexler, but that design is just ... not so great.

Not trying to ruffle feathers but the Enterprise will always be what it has always been:

    http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Garbage_scow

    Seriously though:

The shift from NX to Enterprise A though does seem a bit of a strange design leap but have to admit I am quite looking forward to how it is dealt with in Axanar as was so thrilled to see those numbers pan in during the trailer.
The future leaps forward will probably follow the trend to make designs sleeker so to be honest I wouldnt be surprised if it actually ended up similar to a star wars ship: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/J-type_327_Nubian_royal_starship

Still waiting to be able to use forum titles

They should just come full circle and make the ENTERPRISE-G look like the Classic Movie version, but 4 times bigger.

"Not so great" is the understatement of the century for that abomination.

You're almost never going to see me say that the DSDs look better then something. This is not one of those cases.

One would expect the Odyssey class to remain as the Federation's top-tier cruiser for several decades to come.

Unless destroyed, the Enterprise F should also remain in service for several more decades.

The Odyssey Class was launched in 2409. Now we are in 2410. It would make no sense to have a new Enterprise or a new flagship cruiser.

I would assume that a T6 version of the Odyssey will be offered.

Fan wishful thinking: Data returns in the previously missing Enterprise E. It got kitted out with some upgrades. It looks/feels like what we would call a T6 ship.

Starfleet decides to retrofit *some* existing ships with these abilities
Klingons and Romulans steal the tech and do the same..

Not quite CBS, but ... Bret Spiner said no to that.

I really hope the game shuts down before we got to the 26th century and the J...which I imagine isn't a probability...it's a inevitability. :P

Lol, i always had that in my mind too.

I like the front part of the -J, its wide saucer and integrated deflector looks sexy IMO. But the rear part... meh. Especaily those thin nacelles and pylons look totally out of place compared to the rest of the ship.

    @sf911
Agreed, its by far too early for a new Enterprise.
But what they COLD do is to finally introduce some alternative ship models for it.
I'd especially welcome something that doesn't look ike a glorified Sovereign/Excelsior. As much as i know, the Odyssey design is supposed to be a worthy sucessor of previous Enterprises.
So i would like to see some round and wide saucers and some different designed Pylons and Nacelles too. Just for the sake of having something to experiment with, so we where able to create some nice looking ships for a change. (instead of Cryptics boring tongue saucers and streched nacelles look all the time.)

I agree. And it would be plausible in-continuity too. How many years was it between the Enterprise-A's launch and the Excelsior's, which was eventually the basis for the Ent-B? I don't think that many.

Edit: Not to mention the mere 7-10 years between the D and the E.

Lots of ways to do this without Spiner.

Dominion Wars used Kevin Michael Richardson instead of Avery Brooks. nbd.
Elite Force used someone instead of Jeri Ryan. She came after release to add her voice...game was patched.

STO could have no voice...they (over)do that already.

It would be cool to have original actors as much as possible.
But the lack of them shouldn't stop the show.
There are more stories to tell!

You don't have anything to worry about. The way time in this game is progressing, it will take us at least 400 years to come to that point.

they will have to change someting. if its late 26th century we are less than 200 years away from it and we are only at letter f. so we really need to destroy enterprise more often, ore just skip few letters...
if its early 26th century its only 100 years away and so many letters...

Nope, Starfleet average one Enterprise every 38 years from Archer's NX-01 to Shon's Ent-F:

    22nd - NX, 23rd - TOS, A, B, 24th - C, D, E, 25th - F, G, 26th - H, I, J.

Actually, the J looks dated already.

it will look even more ridiculous once we have t6 ships that take a massive departure from the norm....

And if i have to choose i will take octopus fed ship over the J any day.

At least the J looks like a proper Fed ship, not the extrapolation of a derivative of a concept that the T6 cruiser looks to be. Tradition and aesthetics matter, because how many of us would still be playing this game if it wasn't Star Trek but some generic IP?

I dunno the T6 cruiser fits the canon lines down the Constellation-class lines.

    New T6 cruiser

I can see the progression of that style of ship.

I do not think people wouldn't be as upset with the T6 lines if it wasn't the 1st type you see of the new ships. I'm sure there will be a more classic Constitution-class style lines ship to come out.
