Ideas for Improvements to Star Trek Online

Here are a few ways to improvements to star trek online. Been thinking of a ways to make the game feel more like Star Trek.


1. The Galaxy Map

The idea here is to make 4 galactic quadrants of the Milky Way galaxy by using the extra large space map sizes used in The Breach map. Using 4 of those maps you can make up the entire STO Galaxy. Scale everything down in size so on the galaxy map. Planets, stars, nebula, npc ships, players ships are the size of small shuttle craft when in sector space. You could have a 4 Quadrant galaxy. Reduce the size and scale and speed of ships so that way the larger quadrant maps feel really larger and you feel really small in sector space. Scale is everything in Star Trek, it's no where to be found in star trek online.


2. Fleet Admiral Control over Bridge officer ships.

Think of this idea as Space Combat pet kits. When reaching Fleet Admiral you will get 4 Space combat ship slots, In the Stations slot where you select your bridge office stations and away team members, you can select 4 bridge officers to command 4 Space combat pet ships to join you in combat on special missions. This can be treated like Personal Kits. you pick your bridge officers and they can use their boff space abilities.

3. Exploration

Al Rivera has a good idea about making the top ranked foundry mission pop up at stars & systems. But there is one MAJOR flaw, the foundry it's self is non intuitive, clunky, and backwards. hard to use and not simple for new users and not complex for advanced users. It needs to be more automated and drag and drop user interface and mission building. I've built a full misson, with max maps in a project used. and it took me a month to build, and entire month to build one mission is CRAZY ! The foundry should NOT be that hard to use. So the idea would only work IF the foundry was revamped and made easy to us and sto players could make missions without spending a month learning and working on there projects.

4. Random ideas


Warp factor speed limit 9.975 , So people use Slip Stream Drive more.

An Energy credit sink for Dilithium fuel cost for your starship.

Give us a Engineering control panel so manage ship power and allocation for ship use. We have warp cores in the game now. Make more use of them. Greater warp core types create more power for different areas of your ship.

More Mini games !

All minor alien races playable in the game, with Alien presets in the creator.

Tier 6 Starbases that looks like ESD.

    For #2 they could implement a sidekick system.

    I would much prefer them to revamp weapons in the game as a whole aswell. For example, if you look at a fight, its a total cluster****.

    To make it easier on everyones system and probably the server too. Why not just have ships with a role bonus, instead of 4 fore on a cruiser, why not 2 fore 2 aft with a 50% inherent damage bonus to whatever. It could help give ships of lower tiers roles in higher tier fights.

    Just an example but lets be honest. Every single ship as it is is a disco ball that puts the party amplifier to shame the moment someone does fire at will or scatter volly. Its a bit 'tarded in those large 20 man starbase defense fights.

    Just looking at TNG, the Enterprise E tended to only shoot at the warbird Scimitar with a single phaser at a time, but did great damage and looked cool.

    In short, Less weapons, more damage to compensate. Less things cluttering the screen is always a good thing.

    PS, Reputation should be gained per STF ran and how well your team did, not some Que system. I have yet to hit t5 in anything because i simply don't care. [3 year old toon mind you] Ide rather run missions than wait on a timer.
