Romulan characters and useable ships

I do not understand the excessive amount of ship restrictions currently in effect on all romulan characters. I understand fleet ships are unique to each respective faction, avenger is for the federation, scimitar is romulan; but what about non-federation ships that we've all payed for? We can fly any lock box ships, elachi, xindi, undine, but wait a mintue Mr. Romulan, don't even think about touching that andorian ship you paid for. Nope, get your grubby figures off the mouse button this INSTANCE!!!

Does this make sense to anyone? Andorians are not an exclusive federation species any more then the ferangi are, so why can I not use the andorian ships that I paid for as a romulan character?

    I would say andorians of almost all races are pretty much exclusively federation.
    It's not my fault if you feel trolled by my Disco ball... Sorry'boutit.

    If you want to play FED, there is a faction for that...

    Tbh, i don't understand why you would want to use a FED or KDF ship as a Romulan anyways. The Ships the Romulans have are mostly superior to the ones FED and KDF have.
    And, yeah to come back to my 1st point: If you want to command an Avenger or a Kumari, just run a FED (because seriously: leveling a character to 50 is not an impossible thing ;) ).

    I'll be honest: I wouldn't be quite happy if romulans had access to T5 Fed or KDF ships. I mean why should they. They may be Allies but they have too much bad history to blindly trust each other.
    AND FEDs don't get access to Warrbirds at any tier. Just sayin'.

    I do have two fed toons, a tactical and engineering captain, I just happen to enjoy my romulan and have been fortunate to score several free Mk XII undine phasers from the rep that I would like to use. I am considering the fleet T'Varo non-the-less. You are correct that I would lose my unique traits by not flying a ship that can cloak, would still be fun to be able to pilot my andorian on this toon.

    The only T5 Fed ship(s) I would be comfortable giving to Romulan Characters would be the Vulcan ships (D'Kyr, and Suurok classes)

    Vulcan ships would be a very logical choice since they are cousins of the Romulan empire, credit enemies, still, lots of cultural history there.

    If you want to fly Starfleet ships, there's a faction for that.

    If you want to fly KDF ships, there's a faction for that.

    If you want to fly Romulan Warbirds, there's a faction for that, too.

    The thread logic is stupid. By this thinking, my Vulcan TAC should have the option of using the T'Varo because I paid for one on my Rom toons. By this thinking, my KDF Klingon SCI should have the option of using the Vesta because, hey, I *PAID* for it. By this thinking, my totally awesome Ferengi TAC should use a Scimitar because, hey, I paid for that one, too.
