Has The drain Build been Nerfed?

mojobapmojobap Member Posts: 0 Arc User
Hello all, I have noticed recently that My drain Palisade is not draining like it used too ? its a high drain build with over 300 In flow caps (with 2 variants Polaron and Tetryon) and well of late its not draining much before when PvPing against other ships the drain was drastic on other ships but recently its having barely no effect, even with Aceton Assimilators ?? ... I have not changed nothing in my build nor in my timing and play-style, so i was wondering if any other drain boats have had this issue, i know there are a few Drain experts on the forum like Iskandus and Lucho to name a few, so i was wondering if you guys or anyone else have any insight .. i am also available for testing my handle is @mojobap

Thank you all

Sounds like you've dealt with a string of ships with high insulators. It happens...give it a weak and you'll probably be back in the groove
    Chive on and prosper, eh?

Mojo, you trying to drain fast escorts by any chance? I find that drains just don't really shut them

down them if they zip out of the tykens fast enough.

Otherwise are they using hazards while you are draining? It does negate the drain. But I hope they

didn't nerf drains, they are so much fun.

Hello dahminus, well i did ask my opponents and some were at 6 or at 9 in PI so me being at over 300FC should still drain a lot according to drain mechanics as explained by some here on the forums :)

    Thank you for your Input

dont use tykens, and before fast escorts were never a problem , and yes i do know HE offsets drain so i do watch my timing, still not draining like i used too, as a matter of fact my last encounter was a cruiser with no HE and well i asked him to watch Power Levels and he responded not much draining going on ans he only had 6 in PI .....so im stumped ??

How are you draining without tykens rift ? The main instrument of drain has always been tyken rift and its aftershocks from tyken doff. Power siphon drain has been laughable for years

Hmm, my tykens III is absolutely brutal if they can't get out of it. A single one can drain most targets

to zero in a matter of seconds with ES II backing it up, and if it aftershocks I have never had a ship

not zero out...unless they can run out of range of tykens.

I guess I just run a different kind of drainer, and mine definitely still worked before I went on vacation

last week so I couldn't tell you if mine got nerfed or not.

Ya, this is my build I run ( well what I will run eventually when I get all the gear from crafting)
Has all the doff included in the notes.

Never really had much luck draining without tykens. Might be worth it to give it a try again.

When something becomes the "flavor of the month" after watching a few teams decimate with it many people will follow suit and create similar builds.

But then once it becomes highly used in many matches people will begin to look for counters.

Eventually when something else is used to counter people will try to move on...

I can just wait them out haha. My drain toon has been a drainer for a long time now, he may not be as effective in some of the metas but I got other toons with other builds for those times :D

Yes i am aware but i know for a fact these opponents did not know how to counter Drain .. one did not even have HE so as i was originally asking if anyone else with drain builds has noticed a drastic reduction in the draining ability Mechanic...

Dracula has been awoken from his slumber!

    #1 - Tyken's 3 + aftershocks is way better than Energy Siphon 3
#2 - Don't use any shield drain except Tachyon beam 2 (Or 3 if you want). All other shield drains are pure garbage.

I started running my drain Palisade in PvP all the time in November. Bought it and the Bulwark (for the console) quickly. Slowly, more ships have appeared and players have adapted. Try draining Romulans first, specially Scimitards. Avoid trying to drain other Voth ships, specially Bulwarks and Bastions (unless they somehow TRIBBLE up and are left as an easy target). Always avoid Recluse heal boats, you'll just be wasting your time 99% of the time.

Dual aux2bat builds cycling ST/ET and using HE and the debuff clearing doff all the time are the culprits in loss of effectiveness.

Hello Lucho, i know you you are more knowledgeable in Drain mechanics than i am but isn't it easy to escape Tykes (Evasive) and why before against many opponents was ES3 working to great effect especially seeing i have 300+ in flow caps so eevn if someone has 100 in PI .. .. it doesn't jive :)
