pure sci pvp b'rel...?

Thinking about changing my KDF sci lineup a bit and wondering if a pure-sci b'rel is feasible, something like a typical Wells build, except using the B'rel platform.

Limited sci console slots is an obvious shortcoming. Also some question as to if it can do even minimal tanking for FBP build to work reliably.

Upsides are the monster turn-rate, and the enhanced battlecloak lets it heal while cloaked.

I'm sure people have done it, but I dont see them enough to have a feel for the feasibility.

    Demeter from HOBO uses one.

    Same here. Is science toon and brel feasible?

    I have been using it quite happily on my sci toon for a while, but with decloak strikes (BO2 and HY3) and a variety of scrambles for confuse. Works fine, problem is that its too close to BOP setup on my KDF tac captain, and I dont like running duplicate builds, so I am thinking about changing the sci around to using almost no weapons.

    I've messed around w/it, w/& w/o a single aux2batt (to spam sci stuff more). Not sure what build you're looking for b/c I don't run fed toons. You can snipe various abilities while cloaked, but be choosy when to use things like TB that'll leave you exposed. There's a variety of ways you can go (debuff w/debuffing torps & mines) it probably the most "Sci" oriented. You'll want APO or PH to break holds. You could do all sci, something like:

    GW3, PSW1, VM1, PH2, HE2, ST1, TSS1, HE1, PH1, SS1, TR1 (or swap in a TB, but again be careful when using this from EBC). JS isn't a bad idea. Be careful if using torp doffs, you can fire them so fast you'll be perma exposed while not having shields up.

    You really should have at least 1 tac boff tbh. An ensign Eng for EpTE and EpTA isn't bad either.

    Photonic Torp Console can be ok (but if using Tac Torp Boff abilities don't bother imo), AMS (can be abusive tbh), space wall for lolz, basically disruptive consoles that don't leave you exposed like theta can.

    If you aren't going to take advantage of the EBC and massive Sci boff layout, better off int a T'varo or Mirror H'anom imo.

    FBP is kinda silly tbh and you're shields/hull will be low enough you are going to want to spend your time hitting and running and avoiding high incoming dps.

    @Op yes sci b'rel is certainly worth it.

    TBH after about 6months of pvp absence its the one thing that made me come back and actually enjoy some pew. No fleet consoles or anything, didn't even rep sec and i m having a blast.

    It's an uphill fight of sorts, but if you can make it work, it can be a lot of fun to fly a BoP, especially a B'rel.

    I have a join Trill Sci in a Fleet B'rel - but a Torp boat - which has become almost useless in the last 1-2 years.

    She's fine as a support - setting up a subnuke for a Vaper, spamming GW3, dropping other stuff to mess up the opponents - but a real threat - nope.

    Fleet T'Varo is better in almost all areas - poor old B'rel has been left behind. Even not used as a science - she only has 3 tac consoles - so Meh.

    I remember the days of the I.K.S Valkyrie B'rel Torp boat - every Fed captain who entered Kerrat fell before him - long gone now :(

    i think a pure sci b'rel works best in a team. though you wont be doing to much damage, as your job would be debuffing\nucing ect.

    it could work as a nice harasser in kerrat as well.

    if it's pure sci, there no reason to decloak so tanking isn't a question. running when decloaked on the other hand... lol

    TFOmega and retrorages [buhong and killzone repsectively] have a couple of tankiest brels i've ever seen and they are both tac lol but they may have some insight for you regarding tanking a bop.

    If you are referring to this brand of Starfleet Pure Science ships : http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=832281&page=16 , I take offense at the mention of this unique line of exquisite Federation Starships design being branded on a Klingon ship! :mad: This is worse than lipstick on a pig! ;)

    Take it from me, as the architect behind this design, it is impossible to adapt Pure Science on the inferior Klingon vessels. That is why the brand is named as it is : *Federation Pure Science* Simply put, the design of Klingon BoP is just too different to benefit from the key features of Pure Science ships. BoP is about raiding: cloaked - decloaked and attack, then recloak, rinse and repeat.

    As for Demeter's build, I don't believe it is actually Pure Science at all. I have seen it way too often in Kerrat, that ship definitely uses tactical stations and some high end too, e.g. CRF, DPB, TS.
