No really. Alive and well. If you care enough to read and leave a comment, I've saved a space for you right at the end of the post. Cheers and thankyou!
I would say sto pvp has entered it's senior years. Games can last forever. Almost the unstoppable force meets the unbreakable object, and everyone is both kinda play.
I know pvp will always been a core part of sto. It isn't so much stale for me as I have enough IQ to "adapt" and understand my team's survival is a direct benefit to my own.
I do wish for something earth shattering though. Variety is the spice of life after all
Agreed thou i love to see more maps for pvp. I see tons of peeps in kerrat and yes the ques are slowed but how many times can you fight in arena. And honestly i pvp around 30 or 40 times a day in 1v1 private maps. I now allot of peeps finally getting in to it finally. But a lil love is needed.
Adding one or two more maps for Arena and C&H each would probably be enough to hold most people over for a long time too. The fact being if we got new maps, there would be proof of at least ONE person at cryptic spending time on something solely PvP related. I'm no programming wizard, but surely new maps can't be too hard? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Using Dev tools, creating a new shiny space map is a job <1h
Between the nerf to EC from trash, the change in being able to run multiple Research Projects for the same school, absolutely no explanation behind the [PvP Dmg] & [PvP Res] mods on weapons, the latest console trade, and I can't even remember all the changes that came about recently...and then add in everything that's happened for years that I just muddled through.
No doubt there will be folks that will continue to muddle through. With every group of folks that have walked away, there have been folks that continued to muddle through, even as the next group walked, some muddled through, and the next - then the next - over and over and over again.
Folks muddle through until they walk away...folks muddling through now will eventually walk away - some will continue only to walk away later...
I hate didactic reasoning - there's got to be more than just two things going on, cause the two things I'm looking at having to decide between are...
1) Cryptic is trying to kill PvP.
2) Cryptic is oblivious to how they're affecting PvP.
I tend to prefer to go with they're trying to kill it, cause I don't think they're idiots.
I dunno what's going on here, but pvp is so dead to me I don't even bother logging on anymore.
It's x2 dillithium time and I still don't bother logging on. Dead Dead Dead. A tiny 2% group still doing pvp don't equal PVP is alive... Yo, just saying.
The dress is gold and white. Over 70% people says so. When viewed from a certain screen angle it appears blue and black. The dress displayed on amazon is a blue and black dress, but it's not the same dress in the picture. If you're seeing blue & black you're slightly colored blind. A normal upright screen = white and gold.
I'd like that mirror ship much more if it had 3x sci and 2x engineering consoles. But, I'd still consider picking 1 up for my old Tac (probably sci too, but man I'd really like it to have 3 sci consoles lol). My favorite looking KDF Raiders too (I'd debated trying a Tac Rommy in the non-mirror one w/4x Rommy Boffs).
I've always wonders what eptw3, tt3, apo3, HYT3 & a bo3 would do for damage. Granted those days were pre Rommy. Fyi, I fly mirror H'anom all the time (some mirror ships are underrated). Anyway, nice job as always.

PvP should be awesome in STO, but it just seems like Cryptic wants to take the game in a different direction.
For me, the turning point was the campaign against the Beam Overload double tap.
Not for the ability itself, but because players from a certain faction whined about it and...yeah.
Now that there isn't any faction diversity, does PvP even have a place?
I don't think so.
If any Devs are reading this...can you remove global cooldowns?
At least reduce the cooldown, please.

The MAIN reason I stopped playing. There's no magic, nothing that makes choosing sides special.
It's like 'Street fighter' with 1 character at the selection screen: "Hmmm I'll pick Ryu, or Ryu, but I think Ryu is best for this job. Ohh, look I'm fighting Ryu, then Ryu after that 12 more times.
Devs would say: "Hey, at least you can change his costume colors".
Me: *Face palm*

I think a lot of people aren't interested in PvP, not only because of lack of skill, but equipment. It takes forever to get a minmaxed build. First you gotta rep, then grind, then beg on the NoP Public Service channel for someone to help you into a base (harder for KDF, naturally). By the time you're all geared up, I for one lose my motivation to play that character.

Game mechanics are oversimplistic on flying and shooting, and overcomplex on abilities. You have to learn a lot to fight well. People who are new to it get obliterated before they know whats going on. PVE doesnt teach you much about it.

Except that you're comparing a 1v1 fighting game to a 5v5 (or more) Team Deathmatch.
If all you do is 1v1 PvP, then it's very likely that you'll never run into an actual "mirror match" with the sheer amount of flyable ships, weapon types, and BOff powers.
But if all you do is hit the Arena or C&H, then it is likely you'll see similarities between team match ups, but probably not exact copies.
That's the way the most Team v Team "Deathmatch" works in various other games. Look at Gears of War, Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, and even WoWzer.
Both sides have the potential to be identical. Sure you get some unbalancing in WoWzer if one side has too many of X class or not enough of Y class.
But in the other games, the only unbalancing comes from either Player skill or someone hacksploiting the game.
My klingon brothers and sisters, do not let your brave emotions overwhelm you. For every sin the fed has committed, they will pay a thousand folds. Feds are without honor taking advantage of the Undine crisis to steal our technologies. My pride as a klingon warrior will not stand for this. Every fed shall perish by my mighty disruptors.

The devs have stated multiple times that they do not consider new maps to be 'content' and thus have no interest in making new maps for pvp when they could be making new content- ie: more lockboxes.
I dont think we need anymore arena maps if they are like the ones we already have. Might as well only have one anyway.
Would be good to get some stuff like starbases on opposite sides of a planet, nebula that cuts sensor range, etc. Would also be good to have open pvp integrated into the basic gameplay.
First is TSI vs. QEW from June 2011.
Second is NG IC vs. NG SP from May 2014.
It's a drinking game...taking a drink each time you notice something different between then and now. Yes, it's a drinking game that likely would have to be played out over a series of viewings.
