Temporal Destroyer at PvP

Greetings,
I wanted to buy Talvath, but all I know about it is how it nice looks. I have bought Wells because of same reasons and figured after how much this ship good and universal.
Temporal Destroyer does not look very popular in queues, which makes me to think it is not very good vessel. Well, it has no singularity abilities and no cloak...

On Wells, I can have different roles, like drainer, disabler, healer, etc because I like to do different things for more fun.

So, is it possible to make this ship competitive in PvP? To have interesting to play builds? On STO academy, for example, I have seen a build with Beam Overload and Viral Matrix, which would be new for me.
Anyone has experience with this ship?

    The Temporal destroyer is essentially an escort with a very good boff layout, hitting power and self healing capabilities. However, you really should have the Temporal Warfare set. Temporal Inverion Field is some super cheese that kills enemy movement and CDs. Additionally, a Temporal starship will benefit a self reduction of CDs (including captain's powers!), buff to speed and turn rate. Backstep is a nice touch, but not strictly needed. If you don't have the full Lobi set don't bother, that's what makes it kinda deadly. You don't see many because it is quite rare nowadays and the majority doesn't have the set.

    This ship sounds interesting. Temporal set is expensive, but there is nothing much to do but grind anyways. I think it might be a nice alternative for Scimmitar. Thanks for help.

    I'm not a fan of the temporal set. You could go the route of drainscort with it since it has a good boff and console layout for it.

    Never thought if using a Mobius as a drain boat...I'll have to "dabble"

    I'm going to disagree there. You don't see many because they are completely outclassed by almost every new escort that's come out in the last six months...the temporal set is cool, but will do nothing for you as you'll be dead from FAW spam and out-turned and vaped before you can say "Mobius Temporal Destroyer".

    This. It was a worthy ship on release, it's just been outclassed by almost every new ship and mechanic since. With a bit of station tweaking it could actually work as an A2B escort type of thing, but meh, that is just silly.

    I have met MrWastee on a Mobius with temporal set today. He seemed well. I am sure you can make an anti-faw(assimilated set + resist engineering consoles) and anti-vape(dinosaur space shield + shield refrequencer console, maybe even feedback pulse) builds for it.

    Only because of how powerful the ability is though, the temporal disruption device and chroniton beam array are both lackluster on their own. Which feeds into the does not pew pew pew line...

    kinda lol. indeed i took it out cause of this thread :D... i can tell you from that single ride, that it is still competitive ;)...

    i run mine with 3 dhc's and the temp-set.

    I took out mine for a little spin myself, due to an idea I had.

    Pseudo-doubletap.

    Fire off an Alpha Strike, deploy Backstep with that AoE timestop, then fire off again before the enemy had a chance to react.

    Too bad it doesn't work. I think it's the couple-seconds desync at the beginning and the end- enough delay for others to react. Plus whatever passive healing/redistribution goes on at the end.

    Oh well. I wonder if someone else could make it work.
