With the new season 9.5 update changes in place, it looks like I picked a good time to return to the game.
As it's been a long time since I last played the game I've got a lock box question.
I apparently horded lockboxes the last time that played (1.5 - 2 years ago), and I can't remember why. I do seem to remember something about lockboxes and needing to purchase master keys. I don't remember the exact number of lockboxes (a few hundred) but I think that I've got some cardasian, ferengi, tholian, and temporal, in addition to the few xindi and undine that I've picked up since comming back.
Has the price per unit of master keys gone reduced any in the last 1.5 -2 years?
Should I decide not to by master keys for every single lockbox that I have, what should I do with them? Sell them on the exchange? Are players purchasing them on the exhange? Would it be better to discard them and free up the inventory slots?

You're better off throwing them away. Unless you have a large amount of disposable income, be it EC or real money, they're just going to take up space.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
Don't throw them away, if you do later decide you want to open some your going to have to pay atleast 10k for one of the older lockboxes. Or you could throw them into your fleet bank
Some lockboxes sell for a decent amount of EC on the exchange. Watch prices as they do fluxuate frequently. IF you want a ship from a lockbox the best way to get it is sell lockboxes and/or other items of value for ec and use the ec to buy the ship, generally cheaper than the amount of keys the average person buys before seeing a single ship. IF, however, you want lobi for a bind on pickup item then opening boxes makes some sense.. (still tend to burn a lot of EC and/or zen though)
