How does the Xindi escort compare vs the Tempest?

It's something I wondered after I've seen the stats for the first time, but because I can't log in atm, can't figure this out. The Tempest has slightly more hull, slightly less shields, they share the same console layout, -1 turn, double LtComm stations, 4/4 vs 5/2 weapon slots, -0.01 impulse mod and a Nadion saturation bomb as special console, opposed to a weapon platform.

How do you see it? Thanks :)

5 forward weapons is crazy good. IMO, all the other stats are compairable between the two ships, but 5 forward weapons wins out. It's the reason I've been reluctant to give up on my charal and khyzon and one of the biggest reasons a cannon Avenger and Scimitar is so powerful. Also, with the recent buffs to torpedos one can fit in a torpedo and still have 4 cannons or 3 cannons, 1 dbb, and 1 torpedo.

But yeah 5 forward weapons beats most everything else.

Agreed, nothing adds firepower like another weapon hard-point

Higher shield and speed mods are gravy

I see your point, but the double LtComm stations are a huge perk for the Tempest. You can have 5 tac buffs on the Xindi, but the ensign just gives a weaksauce TS1 assuming you got an AtB build. You can place another TT, but it's redundant, while the Tempest trades it for a LtCommander rank engineering power. Furthermore, the Tempest has an extremely good non-AtB escort setup, while the Xindi has to downgrade to ensign/lt/comm instead of ltcomm/comm

I if I was in a tempest and another me was in a Xindi escort. I think the tempest me would win.

Et3 vs useless tactical ensign slot?

I don't think the swap of a turret to another dhc will make the cut.

If that ensign tactical was sci or he, there would be no contest

I am kind of surprised they didn't give this lock box the tempest layout.

    xindi escort vs fleet patrol

    33k vs 34.7k hull
    1.1 sm vs 1 sm
    5/2 vs 4/3+1
    17 tr vs 16 tr

    same console layout

ens. tac and lt. uni vs lt.com uni

well 1.7k hull form tempest is not worth mentioning, but only thing tempest has is better boff layout.
The ensign tac is not worthless, i would use it for anything that doesnt conflict with my other 4 slots in A2B build.
I do have the undine trait for extra accuracy and inspirational leader.

Xindi escort is not OP (OP means much better that any other ship of his class), which isn't the case here.

I dont know, they both lose
If you are chasing dps, i did not do any math on this, but just looking at this, lt.com univ will match the dps from 5/2 weapons layout...
And it is much cheaper than xindi escort, i think if you already own fleet patrol, save your money for now.

I feel Tempest can cut it by a few. Simply because that ensign is moved up to Lieutenant Commander rank. That's BO1 vs BO3, TS1 vs TS3, THY1 vs THY3, FAW1 vs FAW3. Frankly, it's a huge weak spot for it. It has 5 fore weapons, but the Tempest can use 4 way better, and more weaponry in aft slots.

If we consider an AtB build, then difference of resilience gets staggering for the Tempest. ET1 vs ET3 and EPTS1 vs EPTS3 (12% vs 30% damage reduction, not even considering the massive healing difference) a 0.065 more shield modifier for the Xindi won't match. That's my analysis from a stat overview.

That ensign locked to tactical luckily kept it fairly balanced.

I agree the tempest has a better boff layout and makes a better a2b boat. What the xindi escort does is replace the armatage. It can mimic the boff layout but instead of having a hangar bay, it gets an extra forward weapon. I think DDIS's armatage build would fit it just fine. At leasr, that's how I would play it. For now, I'm sticking with the tempest because it's crazy cheaper.

However, a hangar bay can be used to do some crazy stuff, like scrambling enemy with Intimidating Strikes from heavy torps (Elite Scorpion Fighters), or crowd controlling with Yellowstones.
